23rd October 2020:

Very comfortable, clean and friendly, good choice of breakfasts and plenty of it. Ample parking. Good location with places to visit not far away. Would really reccommend Highcliffe Castle and Furzy Gardens, the castle a good visit time would be 2-3 hours to include the beach. The gardens depending on the time of year easily 2 - 3 hours, good Fairy walk for young children, wonderful colours in the autumn.

Tips:

Plenty of places to eat, several pubs and tea rooms in Lyndhurst, but travel a little further a field and lots of good food in the pubs. We had lunch in The Kitchen (James Martin) which was very good, the drinks however very expensive.

The room was fabulous, the bed super comfy. Loved watching all the many birds on the numerous feeders. Breakfast was delicious, with home produced eggs. Wished we'd booked a 3rd night!

Tips:

Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst, Beaulieu and Lymington all an easy drive and of course, the beauty of the New Forest on your doorstep. The New Forest Inn in Lyndhurst was excellent for dinner.

Very comfortable stay. The only issue was the holder for the electric shower head which does not stay in position. Friendly hosts, excellent breakfasts, nicely presented. Busy road but n traffic noise at night.

Tips:

Hire electric bikes! Good meals at the Fox and Hounds and the Passage to India. Local museum a good introduction to the New Forest.

We enjoyed our stay at Clayhill House, our hosts were very welcoming and the breakfast was delicious - one of my favourites scrambled egg and smoked salmon! Our room was very comfortable and well appointed and we enjoyed watching all the birds in the holly tree who were using the feeders below our window.

Tips:

We had delicious meals in the Alice Lisle pub in Ringwood and The Plough in Sway. We also had an easy walk through the Tall Trees and the arboritum all enhanced by the beautiful sunny weather. We were visiting friends so not really sightseeing but there is plenty to do in the New Forest area.

A very nice B & B, only 15 minute walk to the centre of Lyndhurst Village. We were very well looked after by Chris & Margaret who followed Covid guidelines to the letter. Our room was lovely with a very big double bed, all mod cons. Breakfast was also very nice with home made bread and home produced eggs. There are many different bird varieties feeding from the feeder outside of the breakfast window, only feet away are lots of Tit varieties, Goldcrests, Dunnocks, different Finches and even Woodpeckers. Recommended 10/10

We ate at Surfing Moo Moo at 18 High St, Lyndhurst. Lovely food and good service with a smile.

Really lovely room with a very comfortable bed and excellent large TV. Chris and Margaret were very welcoming. Our delicious breakfast set us up for the day and Chris's recommendations were very useful. Very good location for exploring the area.

Tips:

Beaulieu is quite expensive but the National Motor Museum is excellent with a very extensive collection of vehicles and very interesting displays of nostalgic artifacts. Also felt we got to know the family through the displays at the Palace - very interesting and brought the place to life in a way that displays in some stately homes do not. Nice to see some contemporary portraits too. Gardens beautiful too s with carpets of daffodils.Obviously the Forest itself is lovely and Milford on Sea has a fantastic view of the Needles. Nice fish and chips from Mr Pinks. Had a delicious liver and bacon at the The Trusty Servant in Minstead.

Spotlessly clean, great location. Room was nice and warm and of a good size. Nice hosts who are very knowledgable of the area and helpful. Only negative was the size of the shower. You can not shower comfortably even if you are small. Lots of warm water and water pressure is good but no room at all and washing your hair is nigh on impossible.

The de luxe bedroom No.1 was of No.1 quality, spacious, with comfortable sofa and very comfortable bed. It was a pleasure to look out of the window to see wild birds on the bird-feeder. The shower was tight but there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was typical English breakfast and was very adequate.

Tips:

We found the pub next door easiest for the evening meal which was well cooked and reasonably priced, if even limited in choice. Lyndhurst has an fascinating Heritage Centre, Beaulieu Estate was well worth a day's visit, and both Lymington and Buckler's Hard had plenty of interest (and boat trips down the river!)

The only limit is the proximity of a noisy road: so you better keep the windows closed and the noise almost disappear.

Exceptional family room, wonderful hosts and excellent breakfast. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Tips:

The bus tours from Lyndhurst centre (red and green) are a brilliant way to see parts of the New Forest which you might not see otherwise. With one ticket the traveller can go on three different routes, with each tour lasting about two hours from start to finish. However, you can also hop on and off to visit places of interest. Brilliantly organised, and fantastic value for money.

We enjoyed our stay and could not fault the welcome or service we received. A big plus is the secure storage for bicycles. The room was lovely - spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate.

Tips:

Clayhill is ideal for exploration of the New Forest, especially for cyclists. Lyndhurst is a 20 minute walk away, along the horrific A337, but in the village there are several restaurants, supermarkets etc. The only downside to our stay was the main road, which is always busy. this was not a problem in the house because the double glazing is effective, but even walking along the pavement can be a hair-raising experience.

My husband and myself have just spent a few days at Clayhill House and were very impressed.Chris and Margaret are lovely and welcoming hosts. Our room was lovely and spacious and breakfast delicious. If you're in the area, we would have no hesitation in recommending Clayhill House.

Tips:

There are a number of restaurants nearby eg. Fox and hounds, the crown stirrup and the stag, to name a few. Being in the New Forest, a visit to beauleui is recommended, where you have the national motor museum and Beauleui House and gardens. Also for motorcycle fans, Sammy Miller motorcycle museum is only a 15min drive.

This is an excellent establishment with very comfortable accommodation (we had Room 1, the back bedroom) which was very spacious. The bathroom was a little small but perfectly okay for a short stay. Breakfast was very well cooked and presented.

Tips:

We enjoyed walking at Fritham and lunch at the Royal Oak Pub there. The Heritage Centre in Lyndhurst is well worth a visit although the walk into Lyndhurst was a bit full of traffic. We thought that Mottisfont (NT property) is one of their best, even in mid-Jan; the winter garden is amazing for its variety and colour.

If you're in Brockenhurst eat at the Huntsman but you need to book a table for the evening it is very popular. Fox and Hounds if in Lyndhurst. Our room was a good size with a queen size bed a a couple of armchairs. The room and ensuite bathroom were immaculately clean and had everything that we needed and more besides. Our breakfast on all three mornings was excellent and the fresh eggs were so good, we brought a dozen home with us. Chris and Margaret were brilliant hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We loved everything about our stay at Clayhill house - the rooms were charming and clean, Chris and Margaret were were wonderful hosts, and the breakfasts were amazing!

Tips:

Clayhill House was a short walk from the New Forest trails and the town of Lyndhurst - we enjoyed tea at Peggy Mays and a pub dinner and the Fox and Hound.
