Comfortable and homely, the company on our visit were also very nice while we stayed We saw MR Cutting most of the time , He was caring and thoughtful and could give advice on where to go.

Tips:

We booked thinking the Pub nearby would be good , it was open but unfortunately could not be recommended it looked run down. We had to use the car to go into town, it is a busy road access is easy going out could be difficult at times. Lyndhurst is a good town parking near the library is very good plenty of spaces ,

We had an amazing stay here. Our room was lovely with great facilities and a view over the garden to the chickens which provided eggs for our breakfast. Chris is a great host giving us recommendations for places to visit and the breakfasts are outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble and we would highly recommend staying here.

Tips:

Great walks in the forest with free parking. Burley village is worth a visit and you can see deer at the Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary at certain times of the day.

Clayhill house is on busy road, however has brilliant triple glazing therefore you do not hear much traffic noice. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. The front room has a view to side garden, where many birds can be seen using the bird feeder and chickens can be seen in chicken House. The room we were in had a view too two lots of bird feeders, chickens and pony's to the rear of property and third room had views to one lot of bird feeders and the ponies. What a beautiful property and lovely, friendly owners. Breakfast was 5 *.

Tips:

We visited La Pegola Italian restaurant. Food was good but between 6.00pm and 8pm on a Friday night was very busy and full of families. If you want a quieter time book for around 8.00pm. Lots of other restaurants and shops available ask hosts for recommendations. We also visited BBC GARDENERS SPRING FAIR at Beaulli. Walked to Hurst castle fron Milford-on-sea, which was loverly.

Unfortunately there was no indication on the booking information that this bed and breakfast was located on the kerbside of an incredibly busy road. We were looking for peace and quiet and a restful nights sleep, which we got neither and this resulted in us leaving at 4am and driving home exhausted. This also meant missing breakfast which was another disappointment possibly.

This is a lovely, clean and comfy b & b, with the perfect host Chris. Nothing is too much trouble. He delivered a tasty breakfast, where you can watch the local birds feeding while eating it, and our twin room at the front of the house was great, with one end for two nice armchairs and TV. It is on a busy 'A' road which is noisy while you walk along it, but the windows were good at keeping the noise to a minimum.

Tips:

You can walk to the village of Lyndhurst in 20 minutes, and also part of the New Forest where the horses/ponies roam; Beautiful. or walk just up the road and turn off, where there's a quiet pretty walk through the woods. Had been raining a lot when we went ,so there was a lot of mud around.

Hosts were welcoming and friendly. House is beautiful with many period features, very homely. Our room had quality furnishings, an extra large bed, private bathroom coffee and tea making facilities and lovely views. Breakfast was exceptional, freshly made to order with produce from their own animals. Home made bread, jams and marmalades really made it outstanding for us. Great location for all local attractions and hosts had much information about the local area. I cannot recommend the Clayhill high enough and would definitely encourage others to stay...its really lovely, worth every penny, we will be returning.

Tips:

Plenty to see and do close by. Good walks and plenty of wildlife to see right on your doorstep. A good selection of eateries in Lyndhurst located in a pretty village setting. Lots of teashops to choose from on the high street.

Very warm and welcoming owner. Beautiful old house very tastefully decorated. Delightfull spacious room, beds a little hard for my taste but bed linen was lovely. We loved the view of New forest ponies, chicken and wild birds from our room. Then the smell of baking bread in the morning followed by a breakfast of fresh eggs, their own sausages and local bacon just completed the stay. If you wish to experience a stay in a typical old English home this is the place. Thank you we will be back.

We had a lovely Sunday evening dinner at the Hare and Hounds in Sway (10 minute drive from Lyndhurst)coming back we saw several of the lovely New Forest ponies grazing at the roadside so do take extra care driving.the surrounding countryside was just wonderful, we will have a longer stay when next in this area.

Great B & B, very comfortable room and bed with separate seating area to the side, so a great space. Breakfast was very tasty, plentiful and great choice of menu. Location good, only a short 10 minute walk into town and all of its great shops, restaurants, pubs and cycle hire. Small shower room but had everything you could want. Free on site parking in its own small car park big enough for four cars. Great host.

In the New Forest for a wedding, and Chris and his wife Margaret run an absolutely delightful 3-room B&B in their beautiful house. We had to leave early and they were very accommodating in feeding us an early breakfast, which was very much appreciated! Room 1 at the back was spacious and quiet and overlooking the garden and rear fields. In our first hour we saw a fox family and pair of woodpeckers on the feeder from the room windows. Beds nice and firm and breakfasts with fresh eggs wonderful! We were also lucky to get the last of the home reared sausages! Extra touches in the room like water and chocolate bars appreciated! The road is big and fast so do take that into account if road noise at night effects you. We very much hope to return to this little idyll of a guest house.

Avon Beach and Mudeford are good for walks and an ice cream. We ate in Ray's Kitchen in Milford-on-Sea - excellent. Peggy May's cafe in Lyndhurst is good but very popular. Lyndhurst also has a very good information centre. The heathland around Lyndhurst is beautiful. Good for walking. Everywhere there are ponies, donkeys and cattle roaming freely. We even saw 3 deer crossing the road in front of us. We had a couple of dinners in the Hare & Hounds at Sway - a friendly pub with a goid atmosphere and nice food. The Crown at Bransgore is excellent for food and very nice atmosphere and staff.

Easy to find. Chris could not have been more helpful and his breakfasts were delicious. The only slight down side was the noise from the passing traffic in the front facing room. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Avoid the parking charges at Buckler's Hard by parking in Beaulieu Motor Museum where spaces are plentiful and free...but make a note of the museum closing time to avoid the car being locked in.

We loved staying at Clayhill House and could fault nothing. Our room was excellent and the items provided showed that a great deal of thought had gone into making guests' stays as comfortable as possible. The breakfasts were excellent and our hosts were very accommodating about personal culinary needs.

Tips:

La Pergola restaurant is lively and the food is very good. The Crown & Stirrup nearly next door to Clayhill House is a great for convenience and basic meals. The New Forest Wildlife park is a small and very interesting gem. The whole New Forest area is beautiful with some wonderful walks which are often graded. The only comment is to make sure about opening times from October to Spring. Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Lymington are all special in their own way.

Beautiful house and a very clean comfortable room. Chris prepares a great breakfast and gives great tips on places to see and the best forest walks. We stayed in room 3 and you can hear the traffic but it wasn't a problem with the windows closed and the fan on. We would definitely stay here again.

Tips:

Enzee is a great Italian restaurant in Lyndhurst, great food and excellent service. Just a warning if thinking of booking a table at Passage to India; it was a very long wait for food. We booked a table at 7.30pm and didn't get any food until 9pm. We were not offered a drink or even spoken to for the whole time we were waiting. Food was good but the wait was too much in a restaurant only half full on a week night!

A very nice B & B, only 15 minute walk to the centre of Lyndhurst Village. We were very well looked after by Chris & Margaret who followed Covid guidelines to the letter. Our room was lovely with a very big double bed, all mod cons. Breakfast was also very nice with home made bread and home produced eggs. There are many different bird varieties feeding from the feeder outside of the breakfast window, only feet away are lots of Tit varieties, Goldcrests, Dunnocks, different Finches and even Woodpeckers. Recommended 10/10

We ate at Surfing Moo Moo at 18 High St, Lyndhurst. Lovely food and good service with a smile.

Really lovely room with a very comfortable bed and excellent large TV. Chris and Margaret were very welcoming. Our delicious breakfast set us up for the day and Chris's recommendations were very useful. Very good location for exploring the area.

Tips:

Beaulieu is quite expensive but the National Motor Museum is excellent with a very extensive collection of vehicles and very interesting displays of nostalgic artifacts. Also felt we got to know the family through the displays at the Palace - very interesting and brought the place to life in a way that displays in some stately homes do not. Nice to see some contemporary portraits too. Gardens beautiful too s with carpets of daffodils.Obviously the Forest itself is lovely and Milford on Sea has a fantastic view of the Needles. Nice fish and chips from Mr Pinks. Had a delicious liver and bacon at the The Trusty Servant in Minstead.

Tips:

We found the pub next door easiest for the evening meal which was well cooked and reasonably priced, if even limited in choice. Tips:

Clayhill is ideal for exploration of the New Forest, especially for cyclists. Lyndhurst is a 20 minute walk away, along the horrific A337, but in the village there are several restaurants, supermarkets etc. The only downside to our stay was the main road, which is always busy. this was not a problem in the house because the double glazing is effective, but even walking along the pavement can be a hair-raising experience.

We loved our stay. The twin room was the nicest we have ever stayed in - we loved the separate sitting area. A very relaxing weekend .

Tips:

Had a very good day at Bealiou motor museum - they have a "chitty chitty bang bang " exhibition at the moment .

21st January 2019:

This is an excellent establishment with very comfortable accommodation (we had Room 1, the back bedroom) which was very spacious. The bathroom was a little small but perfectly okay for a short stay. Breakfast was very well cooked and presented.

Tips:

We enjoyed walking at Fritham and lunch at the Royal Oak Pub there. The Heritage Centre in Lyndhurst is well worth a visit although the walk into Lyndhurst was a bit full of traffic. We thought that Mottisfont (NT property) is one of their best, even in mid-Jan; the winter garden is amazing for its variety and colour.

26th November 2018:

As advised on the website, the front facing rooms are prone to traffic noise from the main road. No problem at weekends when traffic is light in the early morning. This factor is very dependent on the individuals susceptibility to disturbance from noise.

19th October 2018:

It's everything I wanted in a cosy country bed and breakfast.it was like staying with a good friend. A good atmosphere and all the warmth of a family run business.

Tips:

The location is ideal as well as the forest Lyndhurst Lymington and Christchurch are well worth a visit. Eat at the Boathouse by the Marina in Christchurch. If you're in Brockenhurst eat at the Huntsman but you need to book a table for the evening it is very popular. Fox and Hounds if in Lyndhurst. The ferry from Hythe to Southampton is fun and the Old Town 5 minutes away worth the walk. The Italian restaurant Portofino in Hythe has very good set menu.

Really lovely B and B. Clean and comfy room with an amazing king size bed! Super location and wonderful breakfast. Would highly recommend and will be returning

Tips:

Located 0.5 miles from Lyndhurst and is also on the main road to Lymington. Loved the Fox and Hounds in the village and we visited the Pig In Brockenhurst (15 min drive away) which was outstanding
