Lovely stay for husband’s birthday, bunting in room and candle on the Lemon Drizzle cake was a really nice detail. Very comfy bed and the patio garden was a godsend on a beautiful sunny evening. Well located for a stroll around the village with pubs and restaurants close by 👍

Everything was lovely. Our only issue was the need to fill in the breakfast form for tea, coffee, cereal, fruit etc the night before. This felt rather regimented, one doesn't always know what will be wanted 12+ hours in advance! Thank you for a delightful stay, we'll be back!

Tips:

we enjoyed taking the ferry to Hurst Castle, spending a leisurely few hours looking round, drinking coffee & sitting on the beach watching youngsters on their hydrofoils...brilliant!

A most enjoyable and comfortable stay, with excellent staff. Things seem a little regimented at first, with specific times and parking places, but it does work well provided you adhere to it. Great food. The only negative point was our room got very warm and was difficult to cool.

Lovely place to stay. Comfortable and private. Very good facilities. Very spacious which was great. Staff kind and caring. The lady who looked after us was so nice and helpful. Loved the tea and cake after a long journey. Breakfast was just superb. Parking scheme excellent. I would certainly stay here again.

Tips:

Excellent location in village centre which has the best of scenery and walking in the New Forest. The in house restaurant which was not run by the hotel looked very nice but could not cater for vegans. However there are many nice alternatives within walking distance.

7th May 2022:

Loved my stay. I had the ground floor Burley room with small patio at the back of the hotel where it was quiet and secure and it was very convenient with my bike - could access my room from its own french window door and push my bike around the back of the hotel and keep it locked outside my room to a secure anchor point. Own named parking spot too right by the side gate which was very appreciated. Staff were lovely. I was up and out every day on my bike. I had a continental breakfast then asked for my bacon toasties to go and this was no bother to them each day. Proper glass tumblers in the room and decent sized mugs and nice tea bags were appreciated. All the (very nice) shampoo, soaps, lotions in full sized dispensers in the wet room and a decent hairdryer provided. I arrived early and was made very welcome and allowed to check in which was much appreciated. Lots of space for things and spare blanket, fan and radiator so all options covered. Outside patio has a table and chairs and caught the afternoon sun. The hotel provides a key fob which gives discount in certain places but I never had the chance to use it.

Tips:

Tesco express around corner. Friends who stayed nearby recommended the bakery opposite the Commoner’s Inn for picnic stuff. They also recommended the Snake catcher pub for evening meals. I liked the forester pub for post ride beer. They took the train (1 stop, 9 minutes) to Lymington to the Ship pub by the water and recommended that. We took our bikes to the Isle of Wight and really recommend it. It’s Hilly!! Train (about £4) 2 stops to Lymington pier then ferry about £18 return on the hour. Recommend Tennyson trail to see the needles from free view point what3words: ///blizzard.grills.yesterday and really recommend this delightful Warren farm cafe with gin bar in converted horse box not far from the needles accessed by footpath (or roads) : ///digress.crucially.disco If you have a NT card remember to take it for access to the official needles open museum. Lovely walk ( we biked) Tennyson trail across and down to freshwater bay then up other side. Yarmouth port is also very pleasant and plenty pubs and cafes and interesting independent shops. If biking in NF we liked the trails over towards Burley and up towards frith and across to Beaulieu. Swimmers try Tanners Lane about a 7 mile bike from hotel to safe bathing spot and fine for paddleboarding on calm days. Check tides. Can park right very close to beach but narrow lane and limited places to squeeze in. For a cold water dip can walk to ‘Brockenhurst beach’ up the road and sit in the river. Or park right there. If biking it’s worth using maps and garmins etc to find the bridleways and quiet lanes and stay off the main road between Brockenhurst and Lymington. There’s a bit of a cycle lane between Brock and Lyndhurst but it’s not pleasant. Worth planning the trail options. We took gravel bikes which were perfect for all the trails which are very non-technical and suitable for any bike except pure road bikes. The roads we saw looked in fabulous condition and we saw many road riders about and it looked a great place for a road riding holiday too if you keep off the main drags. Remember to bring a small cafe bike lock and a good heavy lock for at the hotel.

Think this was our fourth or fifth visit and we are sure to come again. We’ve been not been put off by the excitement of the water leak on our last night!

Very minor quibble, the hotel bar is small and has just a limited stock of drinks, but pubs are close by, and petrol station next door sells a wide range of beer and other drinks.

Tips:

Numerous pubs and restaurants in the village for meals both lunchtime and evening, advisable to book especially at busy times such as bank holidays or high summer. The in house restaurant was fully booked for our stay so can't comment, but book before you arrive to be sure of getting in. The national motor museum at Beaulieu is a must see and only a few minutes drive away.

Unfortunately the White Tails restaurant was shut during our stay but plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby. Highly recommended and we will be back.

Tips:

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast in the Huntsman pub and ate in the Snakecatcher the following evening, both recommended.

A really well run hotel, with very friendly and efficient staff. Our room, "Rhinefield", was spacious and comfortable and very clean. The bathroom had good quality soaps and lotions. The bed and furniture were hand made and very original in design. Outstanding breakfast choices; great to sit and watch donkeys, cows and ponies passing the hotel from the dining room.

The Snakecatcher is a great pub with extensive menu and good quality food. The Commonwealth Graveyard is an interesting insight into Brockenhurst history.

Really warm welcome from our host. Tea and Cake on arrival and a reserved parking space with our name on it, which was a lovely touch. Our hosts were always happy to help in any way and were not intrusive. They allowed us complete freedom with nice touches like the honest bar. The room was beautiful and full of charm, and breakfast was delicious each morning.

Tips:

Definitely head for a stroll along The Spit toward Hurst Caste, and witness the extension of the tidal breakwater. Then head in Lymington for lunch, and relax by the harbour and take a pint at The Ship on the quayside. Walk to the Ferry port and enjoy another pint at the Ferryman. Don't forget the beautiful village of Beaulieu and check out the cakes and teas in the village before a brisk walk to Bucklers Hard Boat Yard

The older part of the property has low ceilings in places but fine if you're not super tall. This is an effeciently well run place that makes for a relaxing break and the feeling of being well looked after.

Tips:

Brockenhurst is a small place but with several good pubs, restaurants and shops which staff were happy to recommend. We hired bikes from the train station and explored the area. This is our 3rd time of visiting Cottage Lodge where we feel so welcomed. Everything is perfect and love the little touches they add to make your stay so personal & special, such as your own named parking slot. Breakfast is amazing & caters to everyone’s needs, all of which is locally sourced. I particularly love the little snug where you can read up on all the local attractions, walks & cycle rides whilst having a local Pig Beer. You can purchase a drink or some local foods/items courtesy of the honesty bar; you simply write down what you’ve taken and settle up at the end of your stay. Staff are like friends now; nothing is too much trouble and all are SO friendly, respectful and welcoming. Customer Service at its best! Thank you Maurizio, Francesca, Kelly, Jackie, Christine and all the team. Can’t wait to see you when we can return …..

Tips:

Why not leave your car and walk or cycle enjoying the local beauty. We love to take the train to Lymington & explore the coast for a day. Brockenhurst & it’s environs have so much to offer so you don’t need to drive and you’re able to have a drink and not worry. The local restaurants are plentiful to suit all tastes but we always seem to return to Whitetails (situated at Cottage Lodge) Enzee, Albero (both Italian because we enjoy Mediterranean food) and Britannia Thai. We haven’t yet used the Indian restaurant but heard favourable reports. Lots of good beers at the local pubs.

Really nice to be greeted with tea and cake. It made us feel so welcome and relaxed. You have thought of everything to make a stay with a dog so easy! Our room was beautiful and was nice to have such good quality products in the room. Breakfast was out of this world! We loved that we could take our dog to breakfast with us too. The food was amazing and service was great. Everyone was incredibly friendly. Thank you for a perfect stay!

Tips:

Walk into Brockenhurst through the fields. Nice 5km route. Wine bar in the village has a great atmosphere on a Sunday night. Cocktails are good. Food at the snakecatcher was really good and able to seat us at such late notice. Dog friendly too. Bakers in the village has a great selection of cakes and things to take on walks- chocolate doughnut is a must!

Whole attitude is so positive that problems do not occur as the smooth operation has resolved any issues before a guest is aware they might exist.

16th February 2022:

The staff are wonderful. Incredibly helpful in every way and the location is great. The restaurant isn’t open on Sunday and Monday which unfortunately was when we stayed but being literally five minutes from the village there are other options. I think for us it would have been good to have a lounge area to relax in. ‘The Snug’ was filled with the great locally made wood furniture that you’ll find throughout the hotel but it wasn’t as the name suggested. Some cushions and throws etc would have made it much more comfortable and on a chilly February Day that would have been good to return to. It wasn’t a space for relaxing and I missed that, although it was very much a place to sit and plan your day’s activities with maps and guide books :)

Tips:

We were in a downstairs room and the first night there was a lot of noise upstairs with people walking across wooden floors, including a flurry of activity at 4am! The second night all was quiet so I guess you take pot luck with that one or choose an upstairs room. We went to the Huntsman Pub for Sunday lunch - more like a restaurant than a pub really and great food. The Snakecatcher pub was also good with lots of character though not quite as atmospheric and cosy as some of those old pubs can be - for that I recommend the Kings Head down by the harbour in Lymington. It’s lit by candles in the evening and full of nooks and crannies. The five-mile walk around Brockenhurst is also worth doing, finishing with tea and cake in Rosie Leas. There’s also a bigger version of the same tea room on the outskirts of the village which does lunches and has more seating room.

Owner Response:

Dear Mr & Mrs Mackinder, Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us. We were sorry to read that you were disturbed during the night on one of the nights. It may be that someone returned very late, which I must stress seldom happens. We wholeheartedly agree with the snug comments. We are very much looking forward to putting the snug back to its usual comfortable self, with all its soft furnishings, board games and books, after a 2 year stripped back look to manage Covid hygiene precautions. On that note we are equally excited to add softer touches back to our rooms. Thank you for sharing top tips with other travellers too! We hope to welcome you back again on another occasion soon. Best wishes Cottage Lodge Team

A really lovely small hotel with a lot of character and charm. A historic hotel but with very clean modern rooms. Loved the silver birch tree trunk 4 poster bed....unique ! ( Brusher Mills ) Very friendly and welcoming staff. Loved the complimentary tea and cake on arrival. My one and only suggestion would be that regular milk is served in rooms for tea and coffee. We had only soya milk. Neither my husband or I could drink our morning tea ! A little biscuit served with it would have been a nice touch. We had a lovely stay and only wish we had booked 2 nights as opposed to one ! Thank you so much !

Tips:

As it was a Monday night quite a few restaurants were closed. We went to an italian restaurant called " Albero " which was great. Real wood fired pizzas. Loved the whole surrounding area. The ponies and donkeys were wonderful !

Good location for exploring NF. Good service, welcoming and informative. Not any facilities apart for meals but thats fine as the activities are in the New Forest! We had a doggy room and it was safe and clean, well maintained with flat screen TV and toiletries etc. Defo stay again :-)

Tips:

Walks everywhere! And parking is free! We got stung in Devon which makes us think twice about returning. Restaurants recommended - Fleur de Ley in Boldre, chef cooked meals in the oldest pub. We also tried Filley arms (5 mins drive) which was OK, service a bit slow but I think they were busier than expected! Good all the same.

We had the most perfect stay, the staff were so attentive with our requests, we were celebrating my husband's birthday and Kelly helped with the surprise birthday banner and cake. The room was a beautiful room, very clean with lots of gorgeous toiletries provided. ( I liked them so much I purchased some before I left) The breakfast was so varied and it was great to see that the ingredients were all locally sourced. We would definitely look to return again.

Tips:

We enjoyed a great meal in the WhiteTails restaurant which is next to the Cottage Lodge Hotel, the food was so tasty and very reasonably priced. Loved the salmon canelloni starter The staff were attentive and made it a most enjoyable meal. If we were staying longer we would have had another meal in this restaurant. We spent time walking around Brockenhurst, which is a lovely old fashion town with all the amenities you would need, also spent sometime walking around Lyminton and the New Forest as the weather was kind to us. Organized a special birthday treat for my husband at The Elderflower Restaurant in Lyminton, it was AMAZING, we had the 7 course taster menu and I haven't stopped talking about it since I returned. Our stay was very well organised with an allocated parking space. All the covid rules were clearly explained on arrival so felt very safe when staying. A very warm welcome on arrival. The room was lovely with everything you would expect and need for your stay. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner could be booked if required which was also very good.

Tips:

We used our stay as a base to visit Beaulieu and the ship museums in Portsmouth and Gosport. Another time we would like to stay again and do some walking and cycling as it is such a lovely area to explore. There are a number of pubs and restuarants in the town to suit most tastes.

Very friendly warm welcome. Delicious generous breakfast with lots of choice. We felt our dog was welcome too.Loaned us a bowl(we had forgotten ours) and gave her a sausage at breakfast time! We very much appreciated the work towards sustainability and the use where possible of local products.

Tips:

Weather was rather wild and wet for most of our stay but walking on the well-surfaced cycle rotes through the forest was easy.We ate at the Snakecatcher pub one evening. The cheeseboard was excellent with homemade oat biscuits and good selection of cheese.

A lovely stay in a genuinely dog-friendly hotel. Excellent breakfast - both extent of menu choices and also quality of the food - and we loved all the eco products throughout the hotel. The only improvement would be some kind of food available in the evening outside of the restaurant context, for example bar snacks.

Tips:

We enjoyed wining and dining at two local pubs, The Snakecatcher and The Huntsman, both within a few minutes. Also good coffee and cakes at The Buttery in the High Street.

My family and I had a wonderful, happy and relaxed stay at the Cottage Lodge Hotel. Our 6 month old granddaughter was with us, and the staff were very caring and most helpful. We were made so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely be visiting again and my whole family will recommend this hotel. Thank you all so much.

Tips:

The White Tails restaurant within the hotel was first class, and the baby being in the restaurant was no problem to them. Brockenhurst has many lovely restaurants. We loved The Dynasty Indian restaurant as the food was excellent and the staff were both friendly and helpful. Enzees Italian restaurant was excellent too. Burley is a very interesting village with a lovely tea shop. Well worth the visit. Lyndhurst has nice shops and an excellent Chinese restaurant and La Pergola Italian restaurant. There are so many excellent places to eat and charming villages to visit and, of course, the beauty of the New Forest on this hotel's doorstep.

Our stay was perfect. We were greeted with tea and cake and a bowl of water for the dog. The room was clean comfortable and warm and there was plenty of hot water for baths and showers. There is an extra heater in the room if you need it. We had a private enclosed garden area for the dog which was useful and were able to take him with us for breakfasts. These were excellent and even included two extra sausages for him; he was very impressed by this and so were we! The staff were lovely and went to a lot of trouble to make our stay so good. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and we can’t wait to return.

We had two rooms booked and both were delightful. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive. The breakfast taken in the White Tails restaurant adjacent to the hotel was excellent.

Tips:

We recommend you book the White Tails restaurant that is within the hotel. Due to Covid rules spaces are limited. We had an excellent meal on both nights of our stay and was looked after by Ramsey. There are plenty of other restaurants in Brockenhurst to choose from if you should wish to do so. There is not a bar in this hotel but there are pubs within walking distance. Beaulieu which is only 6 miles away is well worth a visit. Book in advance online to get a discount on your ticket and leave a day for your visit as there is so much to see.

Our stay at the Cottage Lodge Hotel was fantastic. The best breakfast we’ve ever had whilst away, everything is locally sourced if it can be, we even went to the local butcher and brought home some sausage and bacon! The hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean and staff cannot do enough to help. We loved the quirkiness of the room with all of the hand made furniture. Tea bags are locally sourced and make a beautiful cuppa. Shower gel, shampoo etc was also local. Our host when we checked in was fantastic cuppa and cake as a welcome. And gave us loads of information about the area and where to go and what to do when we asked. This trip was for my 50th birthday and they put up a birthday banner over the bed and gave us a bottle of Prosecco (thank you). The location is perfect for exploring and walking also close to Bournemouth so easy for a beach visit as well as the walking opportunities and sightseeing. The village itself is cute, we loved it here seeing donkeys and horses roaming freely. Definitely worth a visit ❤️

Tips:

If going out to eat definitely try the Italian in the village (incredible food, full of flavour and great service) also The snake catcher pub for a sizzling steak you cook yourself on lava rock at the table, lovely food in both places. There is cycle hire locally and loads of cycle routes. We did the tall trees walk and the deer walks, just beautiful! Also visited Bournemouth for a day and had an ice cream at the beach. There is a little wine bar called the commoners where we sat on the sofas and chilled with a gin watching the world go by.

There are a couple of comments I would like to make, this is not a criticism but I am sure you would like to be made aware of: The bathroom lighting in Gillies Holt is very low which can be difficult when you are wanting to use mirrors etc at night and also if you want to use the mirror when using a hair dryer, the nearest plug socket makes it very difficult to see and my hairdryer has an extra long lead.

From arrival to departure, our experience staying at Cottage Lodge was absolutely spot on. The team, food and rooms all excellent and, set in the heart of the Forest in picturesque Brockenhurst, it makes a perfect touring base for both weekends away and longer stays. Loved it. Have already recommended it to others and we will be back again soon.

Tips:

Note that the White Tails Restaurant, although based in the hotel, is an independent concession and needs booking separately (and preferably well in advance to secure the date and time required). Thoroughly recommended, food is fantastic. Cottage Lodge is situated such that you can abandon the car in the car park for the day and strike out for beautiful circular walks without the need to drive anywhere.

Just right for us & our dogs. Definitely very clean, no doggy smells. Very friendly, helpful staff. A lot of Good choices for breakfast, cooked English excellent.

Tips:

Discovered a footpath near the Lymington sea water baths, which led to a nature reserve. Worth a look. As well as wild foul, duck geese, egrets,we saw deer in the fields near by.

11th October 2021:

We stayed at the Cottage Lodge hotel for two nights - our first stay away since lockdown. The location was perfect, nestled right in the heart of the lovely village of Brockenhurst. Upon driving into the car park, we were greeted with a personalised sign indicating our allocated parking spot for the weekend - a very lovely touch. And our first impressions were further enhanced when greeted by Kelly at the door and we were directed into the snug for a slice of cake and a coffee as we checked in - in a time when customer service is at an all time low - the team at Cottage Lodge really made us feel valued and welcome from the start. The rest of our stay was just as personal and professional, with the breakfast being fresh, healthy and most importantly delicious - with staff again being attentive and helpful. The room itself was clean, quiet and perfect for our needs - and we wouldn't hesitate in staying here again. Thanks for making us feel so welcome!

Tips:

A tricky one for us to recommend any local activities as we were down in Brockenhurst for a wedding - so didn't see a great deal of the surrounding areas. However, do make sure to drive carefully through the village as there are numerous wild horses and cattle roaming around!

Cottage Lodge is a wonderful hotel and Brockenhurst is an excellent location. On arrival you are greeted by your named car parking place. The staff are welcoming and hospitable. The rooms are all different due to the history of the building and it is spotlessly clean and tidy. Local and environmentally friendly products are a feature of this hotel. There is a great selection for breakfast and it is beautifully prepared. Cottage Lodge has a unique charm, that creates a relaxing and comfortable stay. We, as a family have stayed here every year for many years, and will hopefully be returning for many more. Highly recommended.

Tips:

White Tails Restaurant, based at the hotel is a must, but you will need to book early as the locals love it too! Check out their food on the hotel website - the photos are very accurate. Cycle Experience, next to the railway station is good for renting out bikes to explore the miles of forest trails. They also have wonderful electric bikes (you need to leave a deposit on these, due to their cost) Wonderful walks nearby: Puttles Bridge, Tall Trees on Rhinefield Drive, Bolderwood, where you might see deer, are just a few The coast at Milford-on-Sea is a short drive south and from there you can walk to Hurst Castle.

Everything from the greeting right through to the departure was warm and friendly. The service we received was second to none. Even when leaving, we found you could buy the hand lotion / other products from the Honesty Bar, the restaurant was busy for breakfast and the staff still found the time to help us without making us feel rushed out the door. At no point were we made to feel a nuisance- even when we asked for an iron and ironing board one evening, which the cleaning staff left for us for the remainder of our stay.

Tips:

Definitely hire electric bikes- everything is quite local, and you can reach a lot of restaurants and shops on foot, but bike riding gives you a full experience of the New Forest. The company by the train station even had marked out routes which work as a satnav on your phones. The phone holder they give you will easily fit a purse and sunglasses as well!

My husband had a rare critical illness with a completely suppressed immune system and has been shielding for over a year but we had absolutely no worries at Cottage Lodge as their Covid safety measures are exemplary and we felt very safe and worry free throughout our stay. The management and staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are light, airy and comfortable. We always return here.

Tips:

White Tails restaurant simply cannot be missed. When we book the hotel we always making a restaurant booking at the same time as the food is absolutely delicious with steaks that melt in the mouth and a wide choice to cater for all tastes. Room had been recently refurbished, nice patio area for sitting and very quiet at night. Excellent position for a round morning walk and good position for visiting other parts of the New Forest. Would be a good idea when taking bookings for the hotel to also mention the White Tails Restaurant needs to be booked in advance as we found it was booked all the time during our stay.

Tips:

Italian restaurant “ Albero” in Brokenhurst was excellent The Huntsman pub food was disappointing. Need to book in advance for the White Tails restaurant in the hotel. Such a wonderfully friendly and personal service. I emailed to give an update about our arrival time and we were greeted with a cup of tea and slice of cake each. A great way to start a couple of nights away in Brockenhurst. We were visiting friends who live in the village and the ability to have our own space and start the day with a generous and delicious breakfast. I do not hesitate in recommending this place.

We were in a separate building behind the main building which I can thoroughly recommend. The only downside is that you miss seeing the donkeys, horses and cows trotting past but you still hear them.

Breakfast were also great (although this time I really missed the blueberry pancakes). Staff is very friendly and helpful and (for obvious reasons!) we bought a jar or marmalade to take back with us.

Tips:

We tried the Italian-Enzee, Indian-Dynasty and the Filly Inn (I know for sure they are dog friendly) for our dinners and all of them were great! This is the second time we’ve stayed at cottage lodge and loved our stay both times. The location is great and the rooms are comfy, but the real difference is how wonderful the staff are. Everyone goes above and beyond to be helpful and kind, which is wonderful. We would especially like to thank the breakfast waiter and waitress who were thoughtful, attentive and helpful. We saw them being equally helpful to all guests which was a pleasure. One minor point for the kitchen is that a couple of things served at breakfast had gone off. Just one grape which was a bit mouldy and the oat milk we had in the first morning. These things are easily missed and didn’t take away from the breakfast which was delicious, but wanted to flag it for future reference.

We just had a lovely 2 night stay in 4 rooms to celebrate a 60th birthday. The team at Cottage Lodge couldn’t do enough to make our stay a great success; 1. Special birthday treats, decorations and recognition 2. Extra consideration for an elderly couple in our party 3. Lots of really thoughtful little extras

Tips:

You will be spoilt for choice. We enjoyed kayaking in Lymington harbour and drinks, dinner and a walk round the kitchen garden at The Pig.

Very warm welcome with a pot of tea and cake. Very comfortable and quiet room at the front of the hotel. It would have been nice to have had a small fridge with a mini bottle of fresh milk for tea/coffee and a bottle of water.

Both my friend Claire and I have stayed at Cottage lodge hotel previously so were very happy to be returning. The breakfasts are amazing 😀 Always a warm welcome too and nothing is too much trouble.

Tips:

We ate in the white tails restaurant within Cottage lodge , the food was superb and Ramsay a great host. We also dined at Enzee, Italian restaurant by the railway station, great atmosphere and once again food was delicious. Great location for both walking and cycling within the New Forest. We will return again and strongly recommend a stay to our friends.

We have just arrived home from a wonderful few days at the Cottage Lodge. We had the Exbury Room and enjoyed having the little balcony to sit on! The staff were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We walked into our room to find a bottle of bubbly as it was our Silver Wedding Anniversary- a lovely thought and gratefully accepted. They also arranged Red roses on the day. Breakfast was a real feast with plenty of options. Fantastic quality ingredients and lovely jams and marmalade’s that you can purchase to take home which we did! A stay here is highly recommended.

Tips:

One of the nights we ate in the White Tails restaurant in the hotel. This food and service is exceptional and we 💯 recommend this. We also went to Chewton Glen one evening and ate in James Martin’s “The Kitchen” well worth the visit! Loved Bucklers Yard and took a little boat ride!

Lovely welcome from Kelly, with tea and cake. All staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice chat with owner. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Rooms spotlessly clean with lovely complimentary toiletries in bathrooms. Overall a lovely small personal hotel.

Tips:

We ate in Whitetails restaurant both nights of our stay which was excellent, book early as very busy. Parking was very well organised at the hotel with clearly marked large spaces. Bike hire from Cycle Experience near Rail station was very good. Train into Lymington very easy and quick, saving parking hassle.

We had a three night stay here ( for a birthday) and thoroughly recommend it. From the moment you arrive with a named parking space, welcome tea and coffee Kelly and staff make you feel so welcome. They have been most friendly and helped us with ideas for visiting the local area. The breakfast choices are terrific and of a very high standard. (I love a warmed plate) Although we ate out each evening (prebooked before we arrived) we wish we had eaten in the hotels own restaurant for one of our evenings. They support New Forest small businesses with local sourced products on the menus as well as the toiletries in the bathrooms. Our rooms were refreshed everyday. It was also very sweet to find a tasteful birthday banner on return to our room. It was a perfect central location to explore the New Forest. The cycle hire shop was walkable from the hotel. It has a very relaxed casual atmosphere but with lovely touches like local artwork and furniture. We would definitely go back again.

Tips:

Walkable from train station. Cycle hire nearby. Dog friendly hotel.

We had a lovely stay. Breakfast was great. Had everything we needed. Fab location. Only suggestion I would make is to use less softener on your towels. It made them feel a bit weird and along with the bed sheets they had an odd smell.

Tips:

If you want to eat in Brockenhurst it's worth booking early. Partly due to popularity and partly due to covid restrictions with two places closed due to staff isolation during our stay. The green and blue tour buses stop right outside the hotel although beware the early return times on the green route.

From the time we checked in to the time we left, the team at the Cottage Lodge were amazing. Their attention to detail is incredible and the coffee and cake on arrival is a lovely touch. We had dinner in the White Tails restaurant for my partners birthday and Ramsey and his chef prepared amazing, fresh food. Both of us are Ambulance service staff and have been working throughout the pandemic. Before we left, we were presented with a small bag of gifts and a lovely card saying thanks for all we have done. It was a beautiful think to do and we were very touched by it. We would absolutely 10000000000% recommend the hotel. A hidden gem.

All so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, but by far the best was Jackie.
