Facilities all as described and more than sufficient for an enjoyable stay. We took our dog with us and Morant was an excellent choice with enough space for a large dog crate and a small enclosed courtyard. The room had its own access through a side gate.

Tips:

Brockenhurst is a lively small New Forest Town with lots of pubs and restaurants to try

Couldn't fault it. I'ts like someone sat and thought of all the nice little touches you could want to make it special then did them all. Cute little room. Loved the ethos and story line running through the place from the furniture, crockery, even the locally made provisions. Great staff team. Wished we'd had a longer stay.

Tips:

Great village location for local shops, pubs etc. Fantastic access to the wider New Forest, heathland and woodland walks etc.

Everything about this hotel was fabulous. The designated parking space was a nice touch, the room was lovely, and spotlessly clean. Although there isn't a bar area there is a well stocked fridge which contained fresh milk to take to your room for tea and coffee, an assortment of drinks which can purchased by filling in a receipt for what you have and placing the receipt in an 'Honesty Box' and settling the bill when checking out. Last but not least the cakes that were available for guests. Would we stay here again ...it is a resounding yes

For us , it ticked all the boxes. We were coming to Brockenhurst for an 80th birthday celebration and you very kindly allowed us to leave our car at the hotel before “booking in” time and in addition, you booked a taxi for us to take us to the birthday lunch. For this , we were most grateful , certainly beyond the call of duty!

Tips:

A fantastic base for exploring the New Forest. The trees in November were spectacular, particularly along the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive which was recommended by the hotel owner.

We had a lovely stay for our anniversary, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. We asked for extras in our room, which was done, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was wonderful. We also can't praise the White Tails restaurant enough, the food was superb. The hotel is right near the local shops so you can easily get any extras that you need.

Tips:

We booked a spa day at Carey's Manor, which is only a short walk away, and it was worth every penny. We also enjoyed visiting Beaulieu, Bucklers Hard and Milford On Sea. If you fancy lunch or a piece of cake, you might try Rosie Lea's in Brockenhurst village.

A truly beautiful hotel, it has the cottage feel with modern amenities. Spacious and beautifully presented room, immaculately clean with a comfy bed and great attention to detail from the toiletries provided to the happy birthday sign pinned across our 4 poster bed. Welcomed on arrival with tea and cake, lovely breakfast and an honesty bar with drink and cake. There really isn’t anything missing from this hotel. We will most certainly be returning for hopefully a longer stay.

Welcome we received was excellent (personal car parking space a brilliant touch). The snug was lovely and we enjoyed a cup of tea on arrival. Perfect. The room was beautiful, cosy and spotless (if anything to warm!) The breakfast was a good as anyone could expect and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Check out was a breeze. A perfectly run business!!

Tips:

We only stayed one night and fancied an Indian. The Indian restaurant in the village is very nice however we wish we'd eaten at the restaurant on site. Next time!

A little gem in the middle of the New Forest. All the staff go above and beyond to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The “snug” area we were shown to on arrival and the offer of teas/coffees and complimentary cakes is a very nice way to start your stay at the Cottage Lodge. This room can be used as and when you wish and is a lovely welcome back when you’ve been walking in the Forest all day and the roaring fire, cosy feel and honesty bar with its array of alcoholic drinks is a lovely touch too. The room we stayed in on our return visit to Cottage Lodge was William 1st, a lovely cosy room tucked at the back of the hotel upstairs in the eves. The room was spotlessly clean and the decor unique to all the other rooms. The bathroom offered both a corner bath and separate shower which was also nice. The breakfast both mornings of our stay was fantastic, the full English was served exactly how we wanted it and piping hot too. Overall we were very impressed with the Cottage Lodge and will definitely return to stay again in the near future.

Tips:

We tried the Dynasty Indian restaurant in the village on our first night and their food was fantastic, staff very pleasant and not too badly priced either. Also went to the Hare and Hounds pub for dinner on the second night. Again, lovely freshly cooked food, reasonably priced, with excellent service from the staff there too

We had stayed last year and came back because of the service we received last year and weren't disappointed. This was the first time with our dog so we stayed in a dog friendly room and couldn't fault it. It was clean and cosy and big enough for 3 of us. We weren't expecting such a nice room. The breakfast was lovely and the little quirks such as the honesty pot which we loved previously were still going.

Tips:

The restaurant in the hotel wasn't open so we had to venture out. In the local area we walked to the Foresters Arms. It doesn't look much from the outside but the drinking and dining areas are split. The food was great value for money and was really, really nice! Really friendly atmosphere and felt comfortable with our dog with us. Further a field we went to the New forest Inn. Again the outside looked a bit tired but the food was incredible as was the service! There are so many walks we did Beaulieu to Buckler's hard which is very long but worth the views. There are so many walks around lyndhurst as well so you won't get bored.

Excellent as always. Christina and the team excel at making you feel at home and always bring there to help but this is not invasive in any way. Everything is so easy from finding places to eat, places of interest and walks. Always good to be there and the perfect spot in a prime New Forest location

Tips:

If you are quite tall, check the ceiling height in the room. My partner is 6 ' 4" and struggled in the bathroom as ceiling low . With regard to things to see , well the whole of the New Forest is enough bug also go the Highcliffe Castle near Christchurch a great walk and beach. Lots of welcoming hostelries and everywhere is so dog friendly. Cottage Lodge even provides all that information for you.

Very welcoming and comfortable rooms. People very nice. I gave "facilities" 4 instead of 5 only because I felt that although the little "snug" is cosy, a slightly bigger "snug" where residents could spend more time would be nice, that's all.

Tips:

The Italian restaurant in Brockenhurst - food is tasty and value for money. We didn't book into the Cottage restaurant for dinner because we felt it to be rather expensive. However, the Cottage Breakfast was well cooked and tasty! Wanted a wagon "horse & coach" ride, but there had to be ten people to make it worthwhile for the wagon company to run.

We had a wonderful stay at the Cottage Lodge. It was our first visit to the New Forest and I’m sure it won’t be the last! The hotel was great, lovely breakfast, very clean room etc and friendly staff/owners. Would definitely recommend.

Tips:

We had some nice meals out, the Italian by the station was nice. The Thai restaurant in the village was superb, Britannia Thai. The Foresters Arms was lovely too, a proper pub! We also liked The Huntsman too for drinks, not many options for veggie food though in there. Our favourite bar was The Sett, a lovely wine bar with great wine and gin choices. Very friendly owners, would highly recommend.

Very welcoming the second we walked in the door. Nothing is too much hassle. Even went the extra mile and put out a happy birthday banner as they knew we were celebrating. We thought this was a lovely gesture. Room was clean, tidy, spacious and nicely kept. Decor and facilities all seemed well kept.

We were welcomed on arrival and were given a cup of tea while sorting out paperwork and room. Staff very friendly and willing to help. I am coeliac so need a gluten free diet and was very pleasantly surprised to find high end gf cereals and gf toast for breakfast. We had the foresters room which we knew was a small double on booking. Having said that the room was a good size but I have to say if you're taller than 5ft 8 then you'll struggle in the shower. I'm only 5.2 so had no problem but my partner is just short of 6ft and couldn't stand up right in the shower due to the low ceiling. We did laugh about it and it didn't spoil our stay and the rest of the room was excellent.

Tips:

We hired bikes from the local cycle hire cyclexperience near the train station. Would highly recommend. The huntsman is great for food with great atmosphere. Plenty of other bars and restaurants to choose from.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room where I stayed was smaller than I expected but big enough for one person and the bathroom was spacious. Everything was clean and in good condition. There were plenty of choices at breakfast and fresh cake in the snug for afternoon coffee. The hotel is very centrally located and near the high street where there are cafes and shops. It was great to have a reserved parking space too.

Tips:

The food at the downstairs White Tails restaurant was absolutely delicious, and service fast and pleasant. I would have eaten there more often had they had a larger vegetarian menu. The hotel is well located for longer and shorter walks, and bicycle rental shops are nearby.

We were impressed by this small hotel in central Brockenhurst which was quiet, comfortable and spotless. Much local wood is used cleverly and successfully in the quirky decor of the dining room and bedrooms. Our room was perfect and the breakfasts tasty and well presented. The staff were professional, friendly and efficient and made us feel welcome. A nice touch was the personalised parking place for our car. In the evening the dining room is re-named 'White Tails' restaurant as it is run independently of the hotel and served delicious food.

Tips:

Brockenhurst Station is a five minute walk away making a day-trip (via Lymington) to the Isle of Wight very easy. For exploring the New Forest we thought Brockenhurst was a much quieter and more peaceful town than Lyndhurst with its awful traffic.

This was our second stay at the lovely Cottage Lodge Hotel, and again exceeded expectations. We stayed in The Foresters bedroom which looks out on to the front, which was great for me when the ponies and donkeys came by. I cannot fault this hotel, the room was very clean and bright, and I loved the fact that you had good sized caddies of coffee, sugar tea and fresh milk as and when you needed it, along with free cake !!!. The staff where amazing and really helpful when needed, and Christina the manager/owner was on hand when needed and very approachable. The breakfast was delicious (with locally sourced produce). We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening, which again was outstanding. This most certainly will not be our last visit, look forward to coming back soon. Also you get your own allocated parking space !!!

Tips:

The fish and chip shop (which is literally 4 minutes away) is well worth a visit, they where the best I'd tasted . There are some nice restaurant's within walking distance in Brockenhurst. Lots of lovely villages nearby to visit too. The train station is also 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

This is a gem of an hotel. From arrival with my name on a parking space, to the free cake and honour system for drinks. Amazing staff, great food and what’s on offer at breakfast is immense. Our room was super clean and while I have slept in bigger would not have swapped for anything. Our bathroom (massive) had a problem and was awaiting a part. So the hotel had written up a way of getting around this which worked a treat and caused no problems.

Tips:

Went to the Foresters Arms pub round the corner from the hotel. They were so friendly we stayed longer than we should. Their food looked good too but we decided to try the Brittania Thai this was epic best I’ve eaten in ages. Then went for a last drink in the wine bar also amazing people and good wine. What a fantastic night. Can’t wait to return.

Lovely simple room. Ours on On the road so not totally peaceful but if we'd been at the back we wouldn't have seen the ponies and cows ambling along the road outside. Great location for village pubs and restaurants and for travelling to other places like Milford on sea etc. Staff are excellent. Really helpful and welcoming. We will return.

Tips:

White tails restaurant, although not part of cottage lodge but on same site, is excellent. We went to the huntsman on second night and although it was very busy and noisy the food was good pub grub. I'd recommend a walk at Milford on sea. Sea on one side and nature reserve on the other. A very pretty village too. We did a walk from the hotel on to the Heath and back round. Not too challenging and really pretty. A great area all round.

Approach the hotel from the left, its a drive-in and out one way park. We were staying for our anniversary and will go back, but we wanted to take our dog and found that others had beaten us to it, so book early - the rooms go quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it totally.

Made to feel very welcome. I booked the hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday (can't mention which one! - birthday, not wife!). On booking direct, I was offered a choice of rooms and given help in choosing the most suitable. Banner and confetti were added at no extra cost. The Brusher Mills room was amazing and my wife still talks about it to her friends - it was a truly lovely room.

We came back to Brockenhurst for a wedding and there was only one place we wanted to return to and stay over at. This is the second time we have stayed at the cottage lodge and it was just as amazing if not more than the first. Polite staff, comfy clean rooms and a relaxing stay with a delicious breakfast the next morning. They think of everything here. Thank you and sure to visit again!

Charming hoTel, individual and quirky. Owner and Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast superb. Restaurant fantastic when open.

Tips:

Recommend pre-booking of restaurant table but failing that try Enzee's to enjoy excellent Italian food and hospitality. Also Beaulieu should not be missed.

It was my wife’s 50th birthday and the staff in the hotel went above and beyond in the hotel and the restaurant to make her stay first class. The best recommendation we can make is that we will 100% be going back.

Tips:

Make sure you book the hotel restaurant, it’s one of the best in the uk. 10/10

Great hosts, warm welcome, lovely hotel and ambiance. Throughly enjoyed our trip as a returning visitor and little girl was made to feel very welcome which makes us as parents happy. Little touches of cake and coffee, dvds, teas and coffees in the room and a little persons cutlery and crockery pre laid out. You have informal yet personal service efficient service down to a tea. Rooms immaculately clean and very comfy. The only thing it might be nice to offer if you were able to is maybe a packed lunch for guests. There are lots of opportunities to picnic and go into the great outdoors and it might be handy for this sort of service. We would have definately preordered some for our day out in peppa pig world as it was horrendously expensive and lots of junk food so as parents we didn’t eat!!

Me and my partner have not stayed in a privately owned hotel before and you have set the standards very high for other locations we may visit in the future. The whole experience from welcome tea and cake in the snug to the good bye the next day was like a fairytale. We both couldn't believe how stress-free the stay was. We will definitely be returning when the weather improves.

Tips:

The Stag and Huntsman pub is a lovely place to have dinner if the hotel restaurant is full. Lyndhurst is lovely to visit as there are varying degrees of walks and the village is very quaint. Milton on Sea has nice coastal walks for when the weather improves.

I love the designated parking and having stayed at Cottage Lodge 3 times in just over a year I find that the Snug with it's honesty bar makes everyone feel they are part of the family so there is more interaction with other guests than you would get in a hotel bar.

Tips:

A walk around the village before breakfast will set you up for the delicious food served. We always eat at the Snakecatcher and the Indian restaurant serves delicious food but I'd recommend pre-booking as it is really popular.

28th March 2018:

Very enjoyable two night stay for my wife and myself in the heart of Brockenhurst. Everything very good from the allocated parking space, to very friendly staff and service and lovely clean, bright room. We stayed in the Exbury room with four-poster bed made from a local 200 year old oak. It had a separate seating area, good-size bathroom and a balcony with chairs and a table. Breakfast is excellent with several choices of nicely cooked food as well as cereals, fruit, juices etc.. We did not indulge in the free tea or coffee and slice of cake which is permanently on offer in the warm and cosy "Snug" but it's a nice touch and there was a choice of three different cake types when we looked.

Tips:

Pubs and restaurants are within walking distance of Cottage Lodge. We ate in The Huntsman on the Sunday night which we had booked during a visit for a drink earlier in the day. Would advise booking during busy periods as the restaurant appeared to be full that evening. The meal was very good. My wife had flaked mackerel starter followed by roast beef (Sundays only for the roasts by the look of it) and I had soup and fish and chips (cod). We both enjoyed our choices. If, like us, you like a pre-dinner drink and they seem busy, I would buy a drink before you go to the table as we didn't and our pre-dinner drinks, wine and starters all arrived at the same time which was not ideal. However, apart from that small issue, service was generally good and friendly. We went to Dynasty, the local Indian restaurant on the second night and really enjoyed our meal. There were a few other tables occupied on a quiet Monday night. As curry regulars, we would recommend Dynasty as the food was very tasty with some nice chilli heat in the main courses with quite generous portions. Our favourite Indian meal in the last year was at Jaipur in Jersey though Dynasty is, in our opinion, on a par with that. Bon appetit!

Greeted with a warm snug, cup of tea and cake. What a start! The furniture in our room was made of two felled beech trees and is amazing. The room, Standing Hat , is comfortable and welcoming. Staff are amazing, breakfast huge and delicious, other guests friendly. A welcoming and wonderful place to stay.

Tips:

White Tails restaurant in hotel is a good first night treat. The village pub, The Huntsman is welcoming and transport links are excellent.

We stayed for 2 nights. The room was absolutely lovely, spotlessly clean, comfortable and had everything just right. The breakfast was very enjoyable and the Cottage Lodge was lovely and warm. We thought the welcome with a pot of tea and cake was very thoughtful.

Tips:

The Cottage Lodge Hotel was a perfect location. There were some good places to eat locally pubs, restaurants and we found it very central to drive to other parts of the New Forest.

The set up at Cottage Lodge is near perfect re a small Country Hotel. Gilles Holt was exceptionally cosy and comfortable given the snowy weekend which made our stay unexpectedly "Christmassy" given it was the middle of March! The restaurant food is both excellent for dinner and breakfast. All in all we shall use Cottage Lodge whenever we visit the New Forest, which is usually several times a year.

Tips:

Although Brokenhurst and the surrounding areas are well catered for with places to eat, do not leave Cottage Lodge without experiencing their own home cooked food with both the dinner menu not forgetting Ramsey's first class service, and Breakfasts that will leave you totally satisfied for the rest of the day.

On arrival we were met with a bright young man with a smile the offer of tea and cake in the snug a really lovely welcome. We were then shown to our rooms which were bright, clean and had everything we needed. We had booked a table in the restaurant for the first evening and the food and service was excellent so then ate there for the rest of our stay it was a real treat. Keep up the good work don't change anything it was a lovely relaxed atmosphere but great attention to detail. Thanks to all the staff including Ramsey our lovely waiter and Martin chef/Owner great steaks.

Tips:

Do try the restaurant in the hotel. Went to Bucklers Hard a great day whatever age and Compton Acres a fantastic garden.
