We had a lovely stay with you, room, breakfast great . Lady who greeted us on our very early arrival was polite, very helpful with our questions and checked whether we were able to check in early and leave our car parked while we went off to the station. She even remembered and asked if our trip to Southampton boat shop went well at breakfast.

Tips:

Great location for the train station and local restaurants pub and shops .

Lovely place. Room exceptionally clean. Really comfy bed. Very dog friendly with doggie sausage offered at breakfast for our pooch. Great breakfast. We booked in for dinner and it did not dissapoint

Tips:

This Hotel is situated just minutes from Brockenhursts little High Street. Plenty of places for snacks and a good starting point to wander off and start some serious walking. Would totally recommend this place and was sad to leave.

20th September 2022:

A lovely place to stay in a beautiful village, good breakfasts and great staff. Very good TV in room. Negatives are that the plumbing system is loud - it's a little annoying every time someone uses a tap/toilet/shower, the (fixed only) shower head is at shoulder height if you're tall, and the toilet flush took 2 or 3 goes to work. I appreciate it's an old building and it may be difficult to have it any other way. That there was only instant coffee provided in the room rather than pods and a machine is a bit disappointing. All in all though - great place. Thank you.

Tips:

6 mile walk (can be shortened to 4) to the north and west of the village is sublime.

Breakfast was very good. It would have been handy to have a magnifying make-up mirror in the bathroom and for the full length mirror in the bedroom to be on a wall where you could stand at a distance away and use it - ours was on a wall with a pack of drawers and chairs blocking any view!

Tips:

We did the Brockenhurst Donkey Walking experience which was an hour walking through the forest with a donkey - very relaxing and fantastic views, just 5 minutes by car from the hotel. Also had a good pizza in Albero near the level crossing.

18th September 2022:

Such a lovely cosy hotel. We arrived to a very warm welcome, including delicious tea, coffee and cake. The staff are really friendly and helpful. And they went above and beyond to help us feel settled and at home. It's a very old cottage with low ceilings and thin walls but this just adds to the charm of it! We stayed in the Little Alice room and although on the smaller side, it was perfect for us for a couple of days. The breakfast was delicious with lots of food and drink choices, I even enjoyed a bucks fizz or 2! The snug room is a really nice touch, with an "honesty" bar and some local products such as jams and marmalades. Overall, we loved our stay here. The location is perfect, so close to the station, shops, pubs and restaurants. We had everything we needed close by for a short break away from London.

Tips:

There's a really good range of cafes, bakeries, pubs and restaurants near by. We really enjoyed Enzee for an Italian home cooked meal, and Britannia Thai was decent. The bakehouse has lots of savoury and sweet options, and the buttery serves a classic cafe lunch vibe. We also hired bikes from Cycle Experience at the train station, which was a good way to explore the forest on an afternoon. The only issue we had was that the seats on the standard bikes were extremely uncomfortable, so worth bearing that in mind when hiring. There are more comfortable options which cost a little more. The blackwater arboretum was also lovely, and we loved the tall tree trail. Both easy to walk to via Brockenhurst village, however there are some road paths but they are generally easy to navigate. You might be lucky and come across some Highland cows! We also saw lots of horses, and some donkeys in the village. Roydon Woods nature reserve is also worth a visit for a bit of peace and quiet. If you're a steady walker, you don't need a car to visit Brockenhurst or the local countryside. We enjoyed lots of walks without needing a car, which was a lot more pleasant!

Fabulous boutique hotel in heart of the New Forest. The here team are incredibly welcoming and the hotel feels authentic in its decor being warm and cosy. We’ve stayed several times and by coincidence always had the same room, which is homely but also scrupulously clean and well turned out. Facilities are a kettle and TV however the bathroom feels large and modern and there’s loads of hot water. The room has the original Inn windows and modern shutters keeping the room warm and quiet, with zero noise in this traditional village. Bed is very generous and comfortable. Breakfasts are the real star and you have choice of cereals and fruits followed by a range of traditional or more modern cooked breakfasts. Oat milk is available for those on a plant based diet, plus vegetarian options. Never eaten in their restaurant in the evenings however it is always v busy and well received , so book in advance.

Tips:

We live relatively local to Brockenhurst and visit Cottage Lodge as a home away from home. Just within Brockenhurst there are several v good pubs, the closest is the Foresters, which has a great selection of beers and very good traditional food. The Snake Catcher is a larger family pub with large beer garden where you can catch the big rugby and footie fixtures some weekends. Also good food. Excellent Thai restaurant on the high street called Britannia which is definitely worth a visit. Further afield you have the town of Lymington with the excellent cafe/ tea room The Larder. Many things and great shops in Lymington. Also go to Milford on Sea for a day along the coast with shingle beach and the famous Hurst Castle (stone fort) along the shore. Great cafes and a wine bar in Milford plus an excellent Indian with stupendous lamb dishes. Nice walk along the beach from Milford towards Keyhaven, an old salt panning port. Try their local pub The Gun, which probably does the best steaks in Hampshire and Dorset, very old traditional style from the front, bit Poldark-esque and atmospheric- very good food and surprisingly large beer garden with wild flowers and deck chairs in the summer. We love the Cottage Lodge and will be going back next year or possibly November when our central heating is being replaced.

I really enjoyed my stay at CoTtage Lodge. Location-wise, it is so central that it's less than 10 mins away by foot from the train station, supermarket, restaurants and even the chip shop. All staff are so warm and helpful, I felt very much at home. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and towels are so soft. Breakfast was the highlight of my day, so many choices and made with good quality ingredients. I will definitely stay at Cottage Lodge again for my next trip to Brockenhurst

Tips:

When the weather is good, I recommend walking the Brockenhurst to Lyndhurst loop (16km) and the Brockenhurst to Roydon Woods Nature Reserve loop (11km)

My husband and I decided to have a couple of nights away for our 20th wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed. We received a very warm and friendly welcome, including our cocker spaniel. The room we stayed in was dog friendly and had a small courtyard. The room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. There were some lovely touches including the locally sourced organic bathing products, which smelt absolutely divine. There was plenty of choices for breakfast, and the ingredients looked good quality. The location of the hotel is perfect for those wishing to explore the New Forest.

10th September 2022:

A beautifully bright room with a bed carved out of a local ash tree. Greeted on arrival by the owner who showed us to the room. Excellent base for touring the New Forest. The weather was very wet during our stay so we did that mainly bay car. Superb breakfast. The shower functioned well enough but was a simple tap-connected affair - I did overhear the owner saying that the bathrooms were the one part of the hotel that he hadn't yet upgraded since taking the place over.

Tips:

The hotel does have its own restaurant. We prefer to eat offsite and found the local eateries extremely busy between 6 and 7.30 and reluctant to serve much later. We ate one night in an Italian restaurant that advertised itself as being open till 10pm but while were were there a young couple was turned away at 8.25pm.

The friendly and accommodating staff at Cottage Lodge Hotel was evident from the moment I spoke with Maurizio on the phone to reserve two rooms. On arrival we were all tired and had had a very long few days looking for a new house elsewhere in the country. We were offered cake and a hot drink and were taken care of like old friends throughout our stay. The building itself is full of character and stylishly decorated with beautifully crafted wooden furniture. Highly recommend staying here.

Tips:

Around the corner on the high street is a Tesco and Co-op and there are donkeys and ponies at times on the green opposite. The hotel is very nearby some excellent walks on the moor and through the forest. There is a restaurant downstairs at the hotel which we will try next time. There are pubs and cafe in the village but other interesting places are also a short drive away - Christchurch harbour, Lymington and the pretty town of lyndhurst.

A very warm, friendly and relaxed welcome. There is a lovely atmosphere at the Cottage Lodge Hotel. The rooms are uniquely different to each other, the wood finish in our room was very impressive. The room was very comfortable and quiet (apart from the occasional pony, donkey or cow making themselves heard as they roam freely along the road, which they have a legal right to do). Made for a lovely added benefit to the view from our room or when having breakfast. The breakfast was really good, and it set us up for the whole day. We had our first evening meal in the hotel's restaurant 'White Tails' which was extremely good so definitely worth a try. We very much enjoyed our stay and will be visiting again at the earliest opportunity.

Tips:

There are so many local places, we were spoilt for choice, depending on what you enjoy doing, there is definitely something for everyone in and around Brockenhurst. When we visit again, we will definitely be eating at the White Tails and what we thought was a lovely Italian Restaurant right nest to Brockenhurst train station called 'Enzee Brockenhurst Ristorante & Pizzeria' if you're a fan of Italian food it's definitely worth a visit.

A gem of a hotel in the heart of the New Forest. Right in the centre of Brockenhurst this lovely B&B is a real treasure. The hosts are so welcoming and there are little lovely touches that get overlooked at other hotels. They were always on hand to direct you in the right direction of anything you wanted to do or places to go. The beds are super comfy and the room had all the amenities we could have wanted along with super soft towels. The breakfast was amazing and hosted by 2 lovely ladies with most of the menu locally sourced which was really nice. Will definitely be back!

Tips:

After a lovely walk round Brockenhurst and the surrounding area taking in all the horses, donkeys and cows that roam freely, there are some lovely pubs in the village which were really friendly, one had the most extensive Gin menu I’ve ever seen and a trip to The Pig for dinner is a must!

I could not fault the hotel, excellent food, spotless, room, brilliant facilities. They helped as best as they could for your needs. Not a complaint, more a be aware when in the dining room and snug area. As I am 6'8" and being a old house my head was touching the celling. Yet the bed in the William room, that I stayed in was not only one of the most comfortable beds, but was massive. Great relaxing break.

Tips:

The train station is only a few minutes walk from the hotel and as my daughter wanted to visit the beach in Bournemouth. Also great when arriving by train. The village bakery does amazing sandwiches and cakes, which is great if you want spend a day hiking into the new forest which is only about a mile away.

A lovely place to stay, perfectly situated to tour the New Forest. Our room was cool and comfortable with an amazing wood bed frame. We stayed in Wilverley which has a fantastic little patio area. We were greeted with tea and homemade cake while being checked in by a very helpful gentleman. The breakfast was excellent and the two ladies serving were very efficient and friendly.

I stayed for a long dad-and-son weekend. Cottage Lodge was perfect. We arrived tired and hungry. Our first meal at White Tails, the lodge's restaurant was terrific. Our rooms were well appointed and each had a hand-made bed as a stand-out feature. We ate out on subsequent evenings enjoying a pub supper and Indian meal. Cottage Lodge was well situated to explore the New Forest which we did on foot the first day and by open-top bus the second - two of the three routes included in our hop-on hop-off fare. The hotel is close All in all, a great visit.to the station but trains cannot be heard.

1st August 2022:

We had a lovely stay at the the Cottage Lodge Hotel. The welcome, with tea, coffee and welcome was excellent and the parking arrangements very straightforward. The rooms were comfortable, well-equipped and spotless. Two small suggestions - a box of tissues and a couple of biscuits would have been a good addition. You might also want to check the shower in Verderers - we couldn't get the temperature controls to work - it was full on hot or nothing. Probably user error tbh. I should also add that the breakfast was excellent quality and plentiful. We would definitely return.

Tips:

Restaurants - we dined at the White Tails (in the hotel) and at the Britannia Thai. Both excellent. Cycling - Cycleexperience bike hire (5 mins walk by the station) were brilliant. Golf - we played at the New Forest Golf Club (Lyndhurst) and at Dibden. Would recommend both. Running - don't go for a jog in the forest, get lost and nearly miss breakfast. That was a mistake.

Tips:

We had a great day out hiring Ebikes from Cyclexperience near the station. A lovely way to see the forest from quiet well-marked trails. Also easy to get to the sea for a dip in the heatwave - Milford on Sea is closest (shingle beach) or Avon beach (sand) towards Christchurch.

This was our second visit to Cottage Lodge & we were made very welcome. We brought our bicycles and were able to keep them locked up on site. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast every morning too. The hotel is very well located in Brockenhurst, close to the station and New Forest. There are a number of restaurants & pubs nearby.

Tips:

The New Forest has lots of excellent trails for walking & cycling. The beaches at Barton on Sea & Mudeford are a short drive away. We would recommend Enzee, the Italian restaurant near the station - it's pricier than the average Italian but the quality is excellent. The Pig is also worth a visit for a special treat.

Our first visit to the New Forest and we were made welcome as soon as we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble and the team were keen to ensure that we had everything we needed to make our stay memorable. Handy tips for walks and things to do in the snug area and I particularly liked the idea that products used in the hotel were locally sourced. A perfect stay!

The owners are so friendly and unbelievably kind.we unexpectedly needed to stay another night in the area .They started trying to email places to help us find somewhere as they where full. Nothing too much trouble !that is the ethos that weeps from this beautiful cottage. Just oerfect and yet quirky.

Tips:

The lodges own restaurant looks amazing but book sadly we hadn’t and its always fuly booked The lodge has a wealth of knowledge at all the new forest can supply in a beautifully presented book. The whole place is a heaven on earth.

I was travelling with my husband and his Guide Dog. We were warmly welcomed on arrival with coffee and cake. Consideration had been given in relation to our designated parking space to make access to and from our room easy. The room itself was delightful, the breakfasts were delicious, and we couldn't have been more impressed with the level of service and support received, from the moment of booking until we checked out. We look forward to returning.

Tips:

The Cottage Lodge Hotel is well placed for exploring the New Forest. The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu is nearby and well worth a visit. If you like craft beers, visit the local Microbrewery - Pig Beer.

Wonderful stay with a genuine host and friendly staff. Just a couple of minutes walk from the village centre, rail station and close to the forest itself. With individual parking spaces and an EV point you can choose from several unique bedrooms, enjoy a very filling breakfast, and choose an evening meal in the (separately managed) White Tails restaurant on site. Plenty of nice touches included here and nothing is too much trouble for the owner.

Tips:

Short drive to Lymington for the IOW Ferry, or short walk to Brockenhurst station to connect via rail instead. Pubs serving food in the village. Horses and Donkeys often wander by when at breakfast. If thinking of eating at the White Tails restaurant book early!

7th May 2022:

Loved my stay. I had the ground floor Burley room with small patio at the back of the hotel where it was quiet and secure and it was very convenient with my bike - could access my room from its own french window door and push my bike around the back of the hotel and keep it locked outside my room to a secure anchor point. Own named parking spot too right by the side gate which was very appreciated. Staff were lovely. I was up and out every day on my bike. I had a continental breakfast then asked for my bacon toasties to go and this was no bother to them each day. Proper glass tumblers in the room and decent sized mugs and nice tea bags were appreciated. All the (very nice) shampoo, soaps, lotions in full sized dispensers in the wet room and a decent hairdryer provided. I arrived early and was made very welcome and allowed to check in which was much appreciated. Lots of space for things and spare blanket, fan and radiator so all options covered. Outside patio has a table and chairs and caught the afternoon sun. The hotel provides a key fob which gives discount in certain places but I never had the chance to use it.

Tips:

Tesco express around corner. Friends who stayed nearby recommended the bakery opposite the Commoner’s Inn for picnic stuff. They also recommended the Snake catcher pub for evening meals. I liked the forester pub for post ride beer. They took the train (1 stop, 9 minutes) to Lymington to the Ship pub by the water and recommended that. We took our bikes to the Isle of Wight and really recommend it. It’s Hilly!! Train (about £4) 2 stops to Lymington pier then ferry about £18 return on the hour. Recommend Tennyson trail to see the needles from free view point what3words: ///blizzard.grills.yesterday and really recommend this delightful Warren farm cafe with gin bar in converted horse box not far from the needles accessed by footpath (or roads) : ///digress.crucially.disco If you have a NT card remember to take it for access to the official needles open museum. Lovely walk ( we biked) Tennyson trail across and down to freshwater bay then up other side. Yarmouth port is also very pleasant and plenty pubs and cafes and interesting independent shops. If biking in NF we liked the trails over towards Burley and up towards frith and across to Beaulieu. Swimmers try Tanners Lane about a 7 mile bike from hotel to safe bathing spot and fine for paddleboarding on calm days. Check tides. Can park right very close to beach but narrow lane and limited places to squeeze in. For a cold water dip can walk to ‘Brockenhurst beach’ up the road and sit in the river. Or park right there. If biking it’s worth using maps and garmins etc to find the bridleways and quiet lanes and stay off the main road between Brockenhurst and Lymington. There’s a bit of a cycle lane between Brock and Lyndhurst but it’s not pleasant. Worth planning the trail options. We took gravel bikes which were perfect for all the trails which are very non-technical and suitable for any bike except pure road bikes. The roads we saw looked in fabulous condition and we saw many road riders about and it looked a great place for a road riding holiday too if you keep off the main drags. Remember to bring a small cafe bike lock and a good heavy lock for at the hotel.

A wonderful place to stay and very welcoming. Tea and cake on arrival and you are instantly made to feel ‘at home’. The staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance to the village where you can get everything you need. Overall, a fantastic few nights away and we will definitely return.

Tips:

On busy weekends, book the White Tails restaurant in advance. Other than that, we had food from the local fish & chip shop and Commoners. Both were great! Milford-on-sea, Lymington and Barton-on-sea are all within 15min drive and are a great coastal spot. We walked from Brockenhurst to Tall Trees and back. This was a 16km walk but well worth it for the New Forest experience.

Great food at White Tails restaurant really made our stay. We also revisited the little Italian Bistro called Albero which we enjoyed again. Very minor quibble, the hotel bar is small and has just a limited stock of drinks, but pubs are close by, and petrol station next door sells a wide range of beer and other drinks.

Tips:

Numerous pubs and restaurants in the village for meals both lunchtime and evening, advisable to book especially at busy times such as bank holidays or high summer. The in house restaurant was fully booked for our stay so can't comment, but book before you arrive to be sure of getting in. The national motor museum at Beaulieu is a must see and only a few minutes drive away.

The White Tails Restaurant is so nice, Ramsey is brilliant as is the chef, the food is fantastic. Also, very well decorated and the paintings on the walls by local artist make a nice touch both in the restaurant and the hotel.

Every time I stay here, it amazes more! The cottage lodge is my favourite place to stay and I love going for my birthday. The rooms are beautiful and I love how there all individually named and different. The staff are so welcoming and the food is delicious! Your given a parking space and the hotel is well located. I'm already planning on when to stay next year and can not wait! Everything about the cottage lodge is gorgeous! And I highly recommend!

When we arrived there was a parking space with our name on it so we knew where to park. The lady that greeted us was very friendly and informative about the hotel and surrounding area giving us some leaflets. The room was lovely and clean and with everything you needed. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Loved the local information on the back of the breakfast menu. A really nice place to stay and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Tips:

The hotel is very central to the forest giving the option to either walk straight from hotel of if you wanted to go a bit further there are lots of parking spots within a 5-10 drive. There’s some local shops and pubs within 5 mins walk from hotel. We visited Beaulieu (15min drive) which was a fantastic day, loads more there then we expected.

Tips:

It was very wet the weekend we were there but we did manage a walk in the forest and a trip to Milford-on-Sea where we saw plenty of birds. There’s a hide next to the Lighthouse cafe. We discovered the Rosie Lea bakery serving fantastic gluten free and vegan cakes - would thoroughly recommend.

This was our 4th visit but the 1st since the new ownership, we were concerned that it might have changed but it was exactly how we remembered it. It was lovely to see many of the original staff, we stayed for 5 nights and it really felt like a home from home. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable, we look forward to returning in the near future.

Tips:

The Snakecatcher pub and Commoners wine bar were great places to visit for food and drink. Also a drive and walk through ornamental drive to see the giant trees is a must. And Bournemouth is only 15mins by train so well worth a visit for the day.

This is our 3rd time of visiting Cottage Lodge where we feel so welcomed. Everything is perfect and love the little touches they add to make your stay so personal & special, such as your own named parking slot. Breakfast is amazing & caters to everyone’s needs, all of which is locally sourced. I particularly love the little snug where you can read up on all the local attractions, walks & cycle rides whilst having a local Pig Beer. You can purchase a drink or some local foods/items courtesy of the honesty bar; you simply write down what you’ve taken and settle up at the end of your stay. Staff are like friends now; nothing is too much trouble and all are SO friendly, respectful and welcoming. Customer Service at its best! Thank you Maurizio, Francesca, Kelly, Jackie, Christine and all the team. Can’t wait to see you when we can return …..

Tips:

Why not leave your car and walk or cycle enjoying the local beauty. We love to take the train to Lymington & explore the coast for a day. Brockenhurst & it’s environs have so much to offer so you don’t need to drive and you’re able to have a drink and not worry. The local restaurants are plentiful to suit all tastes but we always seem to return to Whitetails (situated at Cottage Lodge) Enzee, Albero (both Italian because we enjoy Mediterranean food) and Britannia Thai. We haven’t yet used the Indian restaurant but heard favourable reports. Lots of good beers at the local pubs.

Individually marked car parking space. Very impressed with the friendly welcome and efficiency of check in. We checked in on Valentines Day and when we went to our room we found fresh roses on our pillows and a huge heart on the bed made from real rose petals - a very thoughtful touch thank you. We really enjoyed breakfast where you had lots of choice and were provided with an interesting history of the property on the back of the menu. We loved the area and all in all had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. It was also lovely to find ponies in and around the village just ambling by. I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel to others wishing to explore the New Forest.

The food was amazing and service was great. Everyone was incredibly friendly. Thank you for a perfect stay!

Tips:

Walk into Brockenhurst through the fields. Nice 5km route. Wine bar in the village has a great atmosphere on a Sunday night. Cocktails are good. Food at the snakecatcher was really good and able to seat us at such late notice. Dog friendly too. 16th February 2022:

The staff are wonderful. Incredibly helpful in every way and the location is great. The restaurant isn’t open on Sunday and Monday which unfortunately was when we stayed but being literally five minutes from the village there are other options. I think for us it would have been good to have a lounge area to relax in. ‘The Snug’ was filled with the great locally made wood furniture that you’ll find throughout the hotel but it wasn’t as the name suggested. Some cushions and throws etc would have made it much more comfortable and on a chilly February Day that would have been good to return to. It wasn’t a space for relaxing and I missed that, although it was very much a place to sit and plan your day’s activities with maps and guide books :)

Tips:

We were in a downstairs room and the first night there was a lot of noise upstairs with people walking across wooden floors, including a flurry of activity at 4am! The second night all was quiet so I guess you take pot luck with that one or choose an upstairs room. We went to the Huntsman Pub for Sunday lunch - more like a restaurant than a pub really and great food. The Snakecatcher pub was also good with lots of character though not quite as atmospheric and cosy as some of those old pubs can be - for that I recommend the Kings Head down by the harbour in Lymington. It’s lit by candles in the evening and full of nooks and crannies. The five-mile walk around Brockenhurst is also worth doing, finishing with tea and cake in Rosie Leas. There’s also a bigger version of the same tea room on the outskirts of the village which does lunches and has more seating room.

Owner Response:

Dear Mr & Mrs Mackinder, Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us. We were sorry to read that you were disturbed during the night on one of the nights. It may be that someone returned very late, which I must stress seldom happens. We wholeheartedly agree with the snug comments. We are very much looking forward to putting the snug back to its usual comfortable self, with all its soft furnishings, board games and books, after a 2 year stripped back look to manage Covid hygiene precautions. On that note we are equally excited to add softer touches back to our rooms. Thank you for sharing top tips with other travellers too! We hope to welcome you back again on another occasion soon. Best wishes Cottage Lodge Team

A really lovely small hotel with a lot of character and charm. A historic hotel but with very clean modern rooms. Loved the silver birch tree trunk 4 poster bed....unique ! ( Brusher Mills ) Very friendly and welcoming staff. Loved the complimentary tea and cake on arrival. My one and only suggestion would be that regular milk is served in rooms for tea and coffee. We had only soya milk. Neither my husband or I could drink our morning tea ! A little biscuit served with it would have been a nice touch. We had a lovely stay and only wish we had booked 2 nights as opposed to one ! Thank you so much !

This weekend fell on our 51st wedding anniversary, but we treated it as our 50th as we were in lockdown last year. Kelly ensured there was a complimentary bottle of ‘Bubbly’ in our room and some bunting decorating the 4 poster bed. The whole team at this small but intimate hotel were very attentive. Breakfasts were excellent. We dined in their restaurant ‘White Tails’ again service was excellent as was the food. We highly recommend booking, we intend to stay there again in the near future. 14th January 2022:

We had the most perfect stay, the staff were so attentive with our requests, we were celebrating my husband's birthday and Kelly helped with the surprise birthday banner and cake. The room was a beautiful room, very clean with lots of gorgeous toiletries provided. ( I liked them so much I purchased some before I left) The breakfast was so varied and it was great to see that the ingredients were all locally sourced. We would definitely look to return again.

Tips:

We enjoyed a great meal in the WhiteTails restaurant which is next to the Cottage Lodge Hotel, the food was so tasty and very reasonably priced. Loved the salmon canelloni starter The staff were attentive and made it a most enjoyable meal. If we were staying longer we would have had another meal in this restaurant. We spent time walking around Brockenhurst, which is a lovely old fashion town with all the amenities you would need, also spent sometime walking around Lyminton and the New Forest as the weather was kind to us. Organized a special birthday treat for my husband at The Elderflower Restaurant in Lyminton, it was AMAZING, we had the 7 course taster menu and I haven't stopped talking about it since I returned. I have dropped hints to my husband that I would love to return for my birthday

The staff at the Cottage Lodge were wonderful. I was contacted before my stay to check everything would be ready. I missed my initial arrival time, but they stayed up late to check me in at 11:00pm. Really exceptional service. As a hobbyist carpenter, the decor and furniture were a real highlight!

Tips:

I was down for a meal with clients at the Pig restaurant down the road. An exceptional meal in a beautiful setting

Wonderfully welcoming hotel. Great staff, food, location. We had a very much needed refreshing short break over the new year. Thank you to everyone at Cottage Lodge Hotel.

Tips:

Whitetails Restaurant (next door) is very good. The New Forest Inn at Emery Down, Lyndhurst is excellent too and The Buttery in Brockenhurst has delicious scones. Milford-on-Sea is not far and is a very pretty little town, not too far from Keyhaven and the sea. The highlight was seeing donkeys and ponies just wondering about - perfect!

Jackie was very professional and curtious. Breakfast was generous and tasty. Our room in the main building was a little cold, but this is expected to maybe from a 600 year old cottage. But the duvet was thick and warm, so we slept well.

Tips:

All the pubs in Brockenhurst were welcoming with tasty meals. This is what you would expect in a popular tourist village or small town. The Italian restaurant near the station, Enzee, was welcoming, with friendly efficient staff and great food.

Our stay was very well organised with an allocated parking space. All the covid rules were clearly explained on arrival so felt very safe when staying. A very warm welcome on arrival. The room was lovely with everything you would expect and need for your stay. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner could be booked if required which was also very good.

Tips:

We used our stay as a base to visit Beaulieu and the ship museums in Portsmouth and Gosport. Another time we would like to stay again and do some walking and cycling as it is such a lovely area to explore. There are a number of pubs and restuarants in the town to suit most tastes.

Very friendly warm welcome. Delicious generous breakfast with lots of choice. We felt our dog was welcome too.Loaned us a bowl(we had forgotten ours) and gave her a sausage at breakfast time! We very much appreciated the work towards sustainability and the use where possible of local products.

Tips:

Weather was rather wild and wet for most of our stay but walking on the well-surfaced cycle rotes through the forest was easy.We ate at the Snakecatcher pub one evening. The cheeseboard was excellent with homemade oat biscuits and good selection of cheese.

A lovely stay in a genuinely dog-friendly hotel. Excellent breakfast - both extent of menu choices and also quality of the food - and we loved all the eco products throughout the hotel. The only improvement would be some kind of food available in the evening outside of the restaurant context, for example bar snacks.

Tips:

We enjoyed wining and dining at two local pubs, The Snakecatcher and The Huntsman, both within a few minutes. Also good coffee and cakes at The Buttery in the High Street.

My family and I had a wonderful, happy and relaxed stay at the Cottage Lodge Hotel. Our 6 month old granddaughter was with us, and the staff were very caring and most helpful. We were made so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely be visiting again and my whole family will recommend this hotel. Thank you all so much.

Tips:

The White Tails restaurant within the hotel was first class, and the baby being in the restaurant was no problem to them. Brockenhurst has many lovely restaurants. We loved The Dynasty Indian restaurant as the food was excellent and the staff were both friendly and helpful. Enzees Italian restaurant was excellent too. Burley is a very interesting village with a lovely tea shop. Well worth the visit. Lyndhurst has nice shops and an excellent Chinese restaurant and La Pergola Italian restaurant. There are so many excellent places to eat and charming villages to visit and, of course, the beauty of the New Forest on this hotel's doorstep.

Our stay was perfect. We were greeted with tea and cake and a bowl of water for the dog. The room was clean comfortable and warm and there was plenty of hot water for baths and showers. There is an extra heater in the room if you need it. We had a private enclosed garden area for the dog which was useful and were able to take him with us for breakfasts. These were excellent and even included two extra sausages for him; he was very impressed by this and so were we! The staff were lovely and went to a lot of trouble to make our stay so good. We had two rooms booked and both were delightful. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive. The breakfast taken in the White Tails restaurant adjacent to the hotel was excellent.

Tips:

We recommend you book the White Tails restaurant that is within the hotel. Due to Covid rules spaces are limited. We had an excellent meal on both nights of our stay and was looked after by Ramsey. There are plenty of other restaurants in Brockenhurst to choose from if you should wish to do so. There is not a bar in this hotel but there are pubs within walking distance. Beaulieu which is only 6 miles away is well worth a visit. Book in advance online to get a discount on your ticket and leave a day for your visit as there is so much to see.
