Very welcoming, well appointed room, comfortable bed. We appreciated the close proximity to the town, the cafes, shops and eateries. It was also great to be able to go for a walk directly from the hotel. The option to eat in the on site restaurant was also ideal.
Tips:We tried three different cafes and all were good. The local Thai restaurant was good and there was a wide choice of places to eat, all within walking distance. The White Tails restaurant served delicious food with personal service.

Wonderful second stay. Lovely touches such as being offered a warm drink and cake on check in and personalised car parking space. Welcomed with our little Jack Russel Puppy. Centrally located to walk straight into the forest if you want to. Clean, friendly staff and good breakfast.
Tips:The New Forest Inn was a very cosy traditional pub for a meal and dog friendly. Bike hire very close by to cycle straight into the forest. We also tried the Britannia Thai in the village which was very nice.

Always a warm personal welcome, cosy cottage venue. Variety of room styles and sizes available with lovely natural materials and unique wooden bed designs. Some days less quiet than others depending on occupants and outside activity, though overall, a peaceful setting.
Tips:New forest location ideal; walk or drive for days out. Several local eateries in the village- check open days and if takeaway available as with Albero Italian . On site restaurant available on booking individually to hotel.

Lovely "boutique" hotel where you are welcomed by the owner with a pot of tea and a slice of cake...nice touch. Cold breakfast is pre-ordered the night before and the cold pastries etc arrive first with the tea / coffee, and while enjoying that, order from the hot menu which is then delivered freshly cooked...hot and very tasty! Nice touch on the reverse of the menu card is a "potted history" of the hotel and furniture which is very interesting.
Tips:In the evening, the breakfast room becomes the White Tails restaurant. Equally good service from Ramsey the owner who is hands on and looks after the customers with style and interest and the food is good as well! We would have liked the room to have been slightly warmer but otherwise top marks for service and food. We live near Portsmouth so not too distant for us, but the Cottage Lodge is an excellent base for exploring the New Forest and the nearby towns of interest: Lyndhurst / Lymington / Bucklers Hard / Beaulieu and Bournemouth all within easy reach.

Lovely, friendly staff and very informative about the area. The room was great, so nice and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Delicious breakfast with a great menu selection. Will definitely be coming back when we’re back in the New Forest.
Tips:We went to two restaurants that were exceptional. Verveine Fishmarket Restaurant in Milford on Sea was a wonderful seafood dining experience and The Pig in Brockenhurst (one of the reasons why we stayed in Brockenhurst as we’d heard great things!) was just wonderful. There are so many walks to go on and delightful cafes all over. Merritts Coffee Lounge is a Diamond in Ashurst. Cosy, delicious cakes and coffee with great Jazz music on.

From booking to arriving communication was very good. All Staff were very friendly and everything was explained clearly. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of choices to cater for all tastes. Tea and cake on arrival was much appreciated after a three hour drive to get there as was the extra heater in the bedroom if needed. We really enjoyed our stay and if we were coming to the area again we wouldn't be looking for any other hotel to stay in!

Shouldn't really recommend you as there might not be any vacancies when we want to re-visit LOL Friendly, good position for convenient shops and Forest. Breakfast was very nice and a glass of Bucks Fizz was a real treat. Dog patio was just the right size for the very early dog needing an outside visit. Our very first time of taking a dog on holiday with us, it was a lot less stressful than we thought it might be. There's a snug for dog owners to eat in with your pet which is fine. Dogs kept on leads which is good too. And own parking space is a great idea.
Tips:Very good bakery in lovely village, three local pubs, only tried one but they didn't seem to have much in the way of vegetarian food. Lovely to see the ponies right outside and around.

We love this hotel and the area. We book a stay at the hotel in November because its both our birthdays so its a little treat. A tiny bit disappointed this time, no prosecco, only half a mushroom on the second breakfast and they ran out of brown bread, sign of the times with cut backs l guess. Its still a fantastic place to stay and would fully recommend it.

We stayed in a beautiful suite, Exbury, on the first floor. The bed was really comfortable, the room facilities were everything you could ask for and the bathroom spotless, with a great shower. The room had a balcony with a lovely outlook to the front of the building and occasional ponies grazing on the grass opposite. We were greeted in a very homely way with a drink and piece of cake whilst we were booked in. The breakfasts were delicious and as much as you could manage. Cottage Lodge is just a short walk to Brockenhurst’s shops in its small but charming high street. The hotel staff were all so friendly and accommodating and really couldn’t do enough for you. The guests at the hotel were all of our age range, largely retired dare I say, which suited us well. Cottage Lodge is a charming old place to stay, full of character and staffed by friendly folk. We can’t recommend it highly enough.
Tips:We spent our 3 evenings at the Foresters pub about 400 yards away, a charming old pub frequented by the locals and with very friendly staff. The food here was copious and well cooked. Try the steak and Guinness homemade pie which we found delicious. A lovely way to spend an evening, especially if you have the local golf society in for the evening as we did, doing their presentations and collecting club fines in a humorous way. It is lovely to amble through Brockenhurst high street, visit their lovely shops and visit one of their coffee bars. The cakes and savouries in the local bakery looked very inviting. Brockenhurst is very convenient for visiting so many places in the New Forest and places just outside like Lymington, New Milton etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our short walks in the Forest at Blackwater Arboretum which is very close to the hotel. Burleigh, Burley, Buckler’s Hard and Lyndhurst are well worth visiting.

This was such a lovely short stay for myself and my boyfriend. We stayed in one of the 'cosy' rooms but still felt we had more than enough room. The staff were friendly and considerate and offered hot drinks on arrival. It is in an ideal location in the heart of Brockenhurst with alot of beautiful walks nearby. We enjoyed a three night stay at Cottage Lodge, our third stay there. Excellent breakfast included & all staff members are polite, helpful & provide good service. Our room (Verderers Rest) has a large 6 feet bed that converts to two singles if required. There were a few areas in the bedroom & bathroom that require a little refurbishment which is why a mark was knocked off the Cleanliness score though these didn't spoil our overall stay. The shower over the bath is a slight challenge to taller people as, at 6 feet 2 inches, I had to bend to get under it. Again, this was a slight inconvenience that was overcome quite easily. Facilities were marked down to 3 as there is no bar other than a small supply of serve-yourself drinks on an honesty basis. However, this was known prior to our original visit so not a surprise. At the price offered, The Cottage Lodge makes a good, economical base to stay for anybody exploring the New Forest.
Tips:The local Indian restaurant, Dynasty, is a few minutes walk from the hotel & is recommended to any curry lovers. We have visited four times over the years & have enjoyed each visit. Advisable to book as it's only a small restaurant & can be busy even on weekday evenings. The White Tails Restaurant run by a separate host (Ramsey) within The Cottage Lodge is also recommended for good food & service. We have eaten here three times over the years & have always enjoyed the food & Ramsey is very friendly & provides great service.

On arrival we had tea and cake in the snug, nice touch. Felt very welcoming and cozy. The owner explained the breakfasts and our booked reservation for the restaurant. Showed us round our room, showed us the tea making facilities, the safe and wardrobe set up. The bedroom was easy to navigate. As I'm disabled this was a big plus for me. The bathroom was small, but adequate for our needs. Brilliant shower. Soap, shampoo conditioner and hand cream provided. The food was excellent. We had cooked breakfast both mornings, and cereals and fruit available if ordered on sheet. The evening meal, which we pre booked was delicious, nicely presented. Very good quality produce used. Host Ramsey was very polite, and easy to have a conversation with. All in all,a brilliant stay, will be returning definitely
Tips:On our first night we had dinner at The Huntsman, Lyndhurst. We pre booked that afternoon. Recommend to pre book as busy. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 night stay at Cottage Lodge. Check in was quick and easy, with a lovely complimentary pot of tea and cake! My room was immaculately clean and had everything I needed. Breakfast was delicious. You are asked to choose your continental breakfast and drinks the night before, but then have the choice of hot cooked breakfast on the morning. I had the full English both mornings, but the other options looked delicious too! And the staff are very accommodating and replaced my beans with extra tomato!! There isn’t a bar, however they have the honesty bar in the Snug, where you write down what you have had and they add to your bill. This was lovely and relaxed and I enjoyed reading my book with a drink or two in there! I loved my short stay and will definitely return!
Tips:The hotel is perfectly located to explore Brockenhurst and the surrounding areas. I arrived by train which was just a few minutes walk from the hotel. There are a few pubs nearby and I would highly recommend The Snakecatcher for lunch. I didn’t try any of the restaurants or take aways but there is plenty of choice. I went for a lovely walk from the hotel which I found on one of the New Forest web pages. Took me over gorgeous heathland, through woodland and along the river. Took about 2 and a half hours and was glorious. There are lots of local walks to enjoy and the wildlife is beautiful!

Great B&B. Very clean and modern homely room. Fantastic shower after a day roaming in the woods. Lovely breakfast with lost of choice. Thank you for having use even though we only gave you an hour notice. If only their 3 pin EV charger was a 7kw charger instead, that would have been most convenient (for a full overnight charge).
Tips:Right in the middle of the New Forest. Easy to get too. Lovely pubs and foods just a few mins walk surround this B&B. EV 50kw charger at Huntsman pub 2 mins away.

Excellent stay. Friendly, warm, accommodating staff. We arrived to find a reserved parking space, important in a busy town, and a welcome cuppa and cake. All organised so well. Loved to see the donkeys and ponies walking down the road each day. Would have been good to have a non-slip shower mat in the shiny new shower.
Tips:We enjoyed our meal at White Tails and had a good meal at The Snakecatchers that inspired us to visit St Nicholas church where we came upon a substantial and moving war memorial to New Zealand soldiers who died in the 1st WW. It made us look more closely at the long and interesting history of Brockenhurst.

We had an absolutely lovely stay and really enjoyed our room "Little Alice". We could have just done with a squeegee for the shower and to wipe away any condensation from the windows. Also the check-in, whilst lovely with the coffee & cake, took an hour! This could be carried out in a quicker way by taking you to your room first of all. Then if you want to, come back for coffee & cake with the option to take this to your room. However the breakfast was great and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely return. Thank you.

stay was for our anniversary, room looked lovely with petals on the bed and bunting, made us feel special. Staff very welcoming and very pleased to see us.We have stayed at cottage lodge many times over the years and each visit has been amazing. Lots of information in room and snug about things to do, hiring bikes, places to eat.Breakfast was amazing as always with locally sourced produce. Room could do with maybe choice of a hot chocolate, maybe a biscuit would be a nice touch. sink plug in bathroom needs new rubber seal as water runs away after filling up. We stayed in the Burley room and it was lovely and quite of a night time,a good nights sleep. We had a lovely table and chairs outside our room on a private patio, shame weather was not nice enough to use.

Very helpful and friendly staff . Lovely touch to be welcomed with tea and cake . Room was clean and quirky . Really nice that the hotel supports local businesses . We didn’t eat at the restaurant in the evening as we went and explored. The breakfast was excellent and we were happy with our stay. Pet friendly rooms and as the house is old , quirky and has steep stairs ask for an accessible room if you require one .

Jackie made me feel so very welcome to her lovely hotel. The pot of tea and lemon drizzle cake as a welcome made me feel like a friend visiting and not another bed filled. Now I know why there were so many repeat visitors while I was there. Despite being full, the service was never rushed at breakfast. Very happy to recommend to everyone!
Tips:Walk any number of marked footpaths or take a bus to fully explore the varied landscapes of the New Forest. How else to get up close to a small herd of horses, or visit with the donkeys. There are deer and hares in the underbrush if you are quiet. Extremely pleased with the two meals I took at The Foresters. While it really is a true village pub for "lads, beer and noise", the meals would not be out of place in a fine restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Cottage Lodge Hotel. The location is perfect for exploring the New Forest, but also having so much on your doorstep. The staff were just lovely and we quickly felt very comfortable and at home in the hotel. We were staying with our dog - a young black labrador and he couldn't have been more warmly welcomed. The beautifully cooked breakfasts were delicious.
Tips:We couldn't eat in the restaurant in the hotel because our dog wasn't allowed in there - breakfasts were served to us in the snug, which was lovely. So we booked Enzee's Italian restaurant in Brockenhurst and it was lovely. The food was delicious, service excellent and they welcomed our dog.

Lovely laidback clean hotel with a calm atmosphere and quirky fun features made a very relaxing stay. Plenty of parking space for our Landrover and they put a sign out to welcome you is a nice touch. It’s tucked away but close to local pubs and restaurants just a short stroll. We enjoyed a downstairs room with a small private patio area with climbing plants. Hosts make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive and breakfast was nicely cooked and presented, plus being someone who prefers Gluten Free they also ticked that box perfectly.
Tips:We walked to the Snakecatcher pub on recommendation for a drink in the early evening sun was very pleasant and then the nearby Italian restaurant, as the pub was fully booked, and thoroughly enjoyed that experience. Our third visit to Cottage Lodge, our first with a dog. Stayed in Morant, Father was with us too, he stayed in Tom Hayter. Both rooms lovely. Morant has huge bed! There was plenty of space for our Labrador and the outside area is very secure and safe. Fabulous breakfast was taken in the snug so she could be with us. Staff interacted with her and she loved the attention. Everyone is so friendly, we wouldn't stay anywhere else and will certainly be returning for a fourth visit.
Tips:Perfectly situated in the lovely village of Brockenhurst, lots of shops, lots of eateries, we like to eat at The Snakecatcher, everything we need is just a 5 minute walk away including access to common and forest walks. All the places we love to visit just a short drive away, Beaulieu, Lymington, Christchurch, Lyndhurst, New Forest Wildlife Park is a favourite, although now difficult with a dog.

You get a warm welcome at cottage lodge. The rooms are clean and well set up, breakfast is amazing and Brockenhurst high st is moments away. We stayed in Tom Haytor with our dog which is one of the dog friendly rooms with a little courtyard garden. Perfect!
Tips:Visit the coop in brockenhurst - lovely selection of local produce. The cliff house at Barton on Sea and the Lighthouse at Milford on sea are sister restaurants, excellent food and dog friendly.

Loved it! Great balance of privacy (Rufus Stone at the end of the block with our own little seating area catching the morning Sun) and homeliness (the welcome tea/coffee and cake, served with a smile was a really friendly touch).
Tips:For various reasons, it was helpful for us to be able to dine in close proximity to our room. The White Tails restaurant was just right: an interesting menu and cheerful, but professional service.

I would definitely recommend Cottage Lodge if staying in the New Forest. We stayed in the Exbury room which had a separate lounge area and balcony. Everything was spotless and the room was gorgeous and bed really comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming and we were given tea and cake on arrival which was lovely. The breakfast was delicious using local produce. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

As always we enjoyed our stay at the Cottage Lodge Hotel. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean, the breakfast is gorgeous, and all the team are great and go above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful stay. 5 stars all the way.
Tips:The Cottage Lodge is ideally situated in Brockenhurst within short walking distance of all local amenities, pubs, restaurants, and village shops. The local train station is a pleasant 10 minute walk away and gives you easy access to the coast and towns nearby. Places like Exbury Gardens, Bucklers Hard, and Beaulieu are only a few of the attractions nearby and make for a most enjoyable day out.

Very helpful, friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. I was impressed with the level of detail eg extra long flex on the hairdryer to reach the mirror and a variety of pillows to suit firmness/height etc. A wonderful touch was tea (all varieties) and cake on arrival with labelled car parking slots - very welcoming! We also appreciated the outdoor facilities (garden area kept beautifully) for cards and a drink!
Tips:I would recommend taking a trip to the Isle of Wight. The station is a short walk round the corner and I noted the times of trains fitted in with ferry times (as do the buses on the other side). I drove to Lymington because I was with my 90 year old mother but all was simply done at the ferry terminal car park (where there is overflow parking if needed and you can pay with a bank card - you don't have to use an app). We would also recommend eating at the White Tails restaurant which is on site. Brockenhurst is well placed for walks, visits to other New Forest places of interest (eg the 1,000 year old church at Boldre) and bike hire (at the station)! By the way, there is a lovely garden centre a short drive down the road towards Lymington with a farm shop and wine tasting (local products): Setley. We enjoyed the location of Cottage Lodge Hotel because it was a short stroll to the centre...very convenient.

Tips:We visited at time of New Forest County Show. Walked to Brockenhurst station with free bus to showground. The Snakecatcher pub good for outside drinks and another the Filly good too. Both had good choice of food. We spent time at Bucklers Hard Village and took the boat trip.

A very, very special, magical place for a break. It's 'other worldly' feel makes Brockenhurst so unique. And the lodge is at the heart of it. The rooms add to that feel and are such a clever concept. The welcome was wonderful, such a personal touch. So many nice touches we have never come across before. The breakfasts are definitely the best we've had in quality, quantity and efficiency of service. We cannot recommend Cottage Lodge highly enough.
Tips:Be prepared to relax, slow down, enjoy the 'rush hour' outside to the full. We found the whole village friendly and accommodating. Would recommend just walking out of the door, following the route in the pack in your bedroom, out into the open forest and photograph the beautiful wild horses.

Perfectly situated hotel in the heart of Brockenhurst with everything you could possibly need within walking distance. The coffee/tea and cake on arrival was a nice little touch as was the named parking space. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast offering was excellent with so many choices, catering for every dietary need and you could tell the quality of the ingredients were top notch. Having myself been an avid supporter of environmental sustainability for many decades this hotels ethos ticks all the boxes for me and certainly gets my vote and would definitely be somewhere I would re visit and recommend. Although I don’t have a dog I like that they welcome dogs into their establishment. With such a stunning location and with so many fantastic areas to explore it’s a win win for owners and their four legged friends alike.
Tips:The village itself has many places to eat and drink without needing to get in the car and as previously mentioned there are so many places you can explore either on foot or on two wheels as cycle hire is readily available.

Super quaint hotel in Brockenhurst. Both of us and our two dogs could not have been made to feel more welcome and breakfast was excellent. The use of the snug for dog owners so we could enjoy breakfast with the dogs without having to worry about other diners worked well and the manger (Sorry I never caught her name) was so super friendly to us and the dogs. Both dogs loved her to bits. If in the area again we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We loved our stay, from check in to check out it was a wonderful experience. We loved the personal touches of having our name on the parking space, the complimentary coffee and cake in the snug. We wish we could have stayed for longer. Our room was perfect for us too. Very cosy and relaxing and spotlessly clean. After a disappointing meal somewhere else we really wish we had tried the White Tails restaurant in the hotel- maybe for next time. My husband is 5ft 11 and he did mention that if he was any taller he would not fit in the bathroom due to the low ceiling , maybe a minor issue for 6ft plus people.
Tips:This hotel is perfect if you want to leave your car and walk the area of Brockenhurst. It is close to shops and pubs. Lovely welcome to the hotel from Mauricio and his colleague, providing us with tea and cake after our journey and ensuring we had the latest information re: places to eat in the village. This personal touch is both unusual and welcome in a time where self check-in and self-service is becoming the norm. The breakfast options were both comprehensive and well sourced - and the staff were equally welcoming. It was apparent many guests had visited before and were known by name: that speaks volumes. The Yellow Forest toiletries in the room were of a high quality and refreshingly scented.

We have been staying at Cottage Lodge Hotel for a number of years to attend the New Forest MGB Classic Car Rally. It fulfills all our requirements, rooms downstairs to aid my mobility issues, clean, helpful friendly staff, locally produced food for breakfast & a named car parking space. We always enjoy our stay.
Tips:The New Forest is a beautiful place to visit & enjoy seeing nature at its best with plenty of ponies, donkeys, horses, deer & cattle roaming freely. Brockenhurst is a good centrally located village to stay in with good accommodation, restaurants, pubs, shops & a railway station.

Beautiful place to stay. We felt very welcomed since the moment we arrived. Delicious breakfast cooked to your preferences, friendly staff. Our room had a little enclosed patio which was great to relax with a glass of wine in the evening. Thank you Cottage Lodge Hotel!

An absolute gem of a hotel. I'd arrived by train (the station is little more than 5 minutes walk) and to be greeted with a pot of tea and home made cake was so very welcome. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Couldn't fault my room - cosy and one of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time. Breakfast ... Oh gosh, so much choice. This is not just a "full English or cereal" establishment. Selecting your breakfast time is a great way to ensure that the dining room isn't too busy, and the kitchen isn't over stretched. A very relaxing start to the day. I whole heartedly recommend the Cottage Lodge and I'll definitely be back
Tips:I was waiting to attend a wedding, so my free time was limited, but I can recommend The Huntsman as a great place to have dinner in the evening!

Lovely rooms, lovely location, lovely staff. Cooked breakfast IS pretty good quality but with only 1 of the key items it does struggle to fill a plate.
Tips:For an evening meal we have found the nearby Huntsman pub does serve great food, but it can be hit and miss whether they can be bothered to serve food too far into their excellent and large picturesque garden… so we have had variable enjoyment in terms of where we have been allowed to sit…

Perfect location. Beautiful rooms. Wonderfully clean. Lovely decor. Very comfortable. Staff are always so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is superb - great menu & very well cooked & presented. Love the pre-order of drinks, cereals, etc but also appreciate choosing the hot selection on the day. We love the extra special touches - coffee & cake on arrival & personalised car park space. Also love the use of local produce & art.
Tips:We love the little pathways around the village & the local shops and restaurants. Our favourites are The Snakecatcher pub and Albero Italian restaurant. We enjoy visiting Exbury Gardens & Hengistbury Head. We always find something different to do every time we stay. We enjoy exploring the forest but also having a day by the sea at spectacular beaches.

The room was slighter smaller than the picture implied but very comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was very spacious. Very clean and I would describe it as a cosy room. The breakfast room is lovely with a snug area too. The quality of the food was very good. Well organised for parking and check in. There was plenty of choice for breakfast especially since one of us is a Coeliac so this was very much appreciated thank you. Lovely staff. We definitely hope to return.

Tips:Hotel ideally situated with just a very short walk into the village where you can find a couple of local pubs that supply a warm welcome and good pub grub, or if you prefer a choice of Italian, Indian, and Thai restaurants. We had a wonderful stay at this eco friendly & imaginative hotel. The staff were very efficient & friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were unique & well equipped. The breakfasts were amazing and we stayed to the restaurant on 2 evenings. Ramsey could not have been more helpful with some of my odd dietary needs. The dinners were, again imaginative, well presented & delicious. We shall certainly return
Tips:Brockenhurst is well placed in the middle of the beautiful New Forest a an area of outstanding beauty. The village itself is very attractive with all the outlets, including several restaurants & pubs, you are likely to need for a holiday. Nearby is the south coast with various beaches that are attractive. the towns of Lyndhurst & Ringwood are within easy reach and further afield are the beautiful and historic cities of Winchester & Salisbury. What a gem! Gorgeous quaint hotel. Ideally located in Brockenhurst. Breakfasts are superb. Staff made our stay most welcoming. Defo coming back.
Tips:Loads of eating establishments in walkable distance and noticed that we did not need to book. However we stayed in May and this might be the case in high season. Not been to the New Forest before. When we arrived we noticed cattle grids everywhere and thought that it was a bit over the top. Found out that it isn’t when we came face to face with ponies on the pavement late at night. Most surreal.

We were very happy with all aspects of our stay, from our reception on arrival to our checkout after our two-night stay. The breakfast was exceptionally good and we were also pleased that we had opted to dine in on both evenings, as the food was excellent and the interesting wine list was reasonably priced. Without exception, the staff were friendly and we look forward to staying again.

Lovely stay, kind staff, great location. We loved the fact it's not a buffet breakfast and comes out to order instead! Brings a nice feeling of freshness to the meal. The do not disturb/please clean the room sign needs to be rethought as on windy days it blows off the door handle! We had put it on do not disturb as we didn't need the room serviced but it had obviously blown off during the day and so the room was serviced anyway! In hindsight we should have left it on the doormat instead of the handle.
