Friendly, accommodating, high quality dog friendly room, the 'private' outdoor space as a pleasant surprise, as was the tea and cake on arrivals. Offers personal touches you don't often have now, such as named car parking spaces. touches like the honesty bar gave a feeling of warm welcoming hospitality.

A superb place to stay whilst visiting the New Forest. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome and had a really lovely stay. Its great also if you have a dog with you and staying in one of the dog friendly rooms, plus you can enjoy breakfast with your dog in the cosy 'Snug'. We will definately be back again!
Tips:Brockenhurst is a lovely village with plenty of options to eat and we loved seeing the wild horses, cows and pigs! Lots of places to explore in the New Forest, plus we even took a day trip by ferry accross to the Isle of Wight. Be sure to give yourself several days to make the most of your visit.

Jackie welcomed us to the hotel and explained how things are organised especially the breakfast and how the key fob opens the front door if locked later in the evening. All the staff we met were extremely pleasant. The waiters served breakfast so easily. If something was missing from the pre ordered cereals and fruit course it appeared very quickly.
Tips:We couldn’t have dinner at the hotel on a Monday so ate at the Enzee Italian restaurant. It was amazing and only a five to ten minute walk away from the hotel. We booked for our second night at the Enzee so can’t comment on dinner at the hotel. Other guests told us it had excellent reviews so well worth a try. The train station is opposite the Enzee. We took the 12 minute ride to Lymington Pier where a car or foot passengers ferry crosses the Solent to the Isle of Wight. We were tempted to do a day trip but decided to leave that adventure for another time. There are some good walks from Brockenhurst and Lymington Pier. Nothing too difficult and can be as long or short to suit walkers.

Excellent location, close to shops and pubs/restaurants, Staff are all wonderful, really friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Allocated parking space was an added bonus.
Tips:Cottage Lodge Hotel is situated in the heart of Brockenhurst, just a short walk from shops, pubs, restaurants and the railway station. There is a great choice of places the eat out and a selection of independent shops too. We recommend the open top bus tour which you can join at the railway station and hop on/ hop off at various places along the route and interlink with the other tours too. Lymington is just a short train ride away and there are many areas you park up and just take a walk in the forest to see the ponies and other animals.

Tips:De ligging van het hotel is ideaal. Vlakbij het trein/busstation. Voor 39 pond per persoon kan je de hele week met de bus reizen naar alle mooie dorpjes. Hop on hop off. Gezellige winkeltjes, pubs op loopafstand. Wandelen in de Forest of naar het strand is beide mogelijk. Diverse keren naar de Snakecatcher geweest voor fish&chips en de heerlijke ciders. Our 1st visit since 2017, due to expanding family, and we found Cottage Lodge as magical as ever and a wonderful base from which to enjoy the various delights of the New Forest. My 8 year old son also loved Brockenhurst on account of all the horses wandering about everywhere. The organisation e.g. for breakfast is also done so well.
Tips:There are plenty of things to see and do when staying at Brockenhurst. During our 2 night stay, myself and my 8 year old son were made incredibly welcome at the walkable “Huntsman” pub for our evening meal… it has great food, great beer and great choices for children too, plus a well designed and spacious garden. The staff were also very helpful and friendly, bar one lady who was a bit obstructive when we arrived and asked for a garden table again for our second visit, but she was thankfully put in her place by senior staff who were, once again, charming, so we had two great nights there.

Faultless. Quirky Hotel that works perfectly in it's New Forest location. Staff were all outstanding and the breakfast set-up, quality of food and service, all delivered with a smile.
Tips:Stayed in the Rufus Stone room and it's private space within the garden was an unexpected treat. Sat outside with a cuppa resting, and enjoying the peace and quiet a couple of evenings after taking in the many sights of the New Forest during the day. Scampi from the local chip shop was excellent and Foresters Arms perfect for a pint, both only minutes from Cottage Lodge. The Blue Bus Summer Tour also well worth the price.

I contacted Cottage Lodge directly even after it said they were fully booked to see if they had a dog friendly room available, Kelly replied straight away to say they did and was very helpful, as were all the staff from the beginning to end of our lovely 2 night stay. Fred our lab was very comfortable and would of been accommodated at breakfast and dinner also if we wanted him to join us. Dinner in the White Tails restaurant was delicious.
Tips:Snakecatcher good pub had a tasty sandwich after a long walk. Downloaded walks from All Trails app - Tall Trees walk recommended - about 9 mile circular walk from Brockenhurst.

Cottage Lodge was just amazing, wonderful room and very tasty breakfast in the mornings. Staff were very friendly and always around to help with any queries.
Tips:Local to just about everything we needed, all within easy walking distance. Brockenhurst train station was a short walk away, where we traveled to Lyndhurst to the Seafood Festival. Local fish and chip take away, Cottage Lodge provided us with plates and cutlery to have in our room. Plenty of walks right on the door step, and an amazing Gin bar at thatched cottage, another small walk away. The Buttery cafe, and a local Tesco….. and of course the animals walking around with us too.

The only niggle was the location of the room to the kitchen, because it was quite humid understandably they had the door open but that made it quite noisy for us as was the white water pipe right outside the window. However on the positive side, extremely friendly staff, little touches like a warm welcome and named parking is lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend.

Staff at the Cottage Lodge were fantastic. They were hospitable and informed about things to do in or near Brockenhurst. The cleanliness of the hotel was on a good level. The breakfast included was tasty. The dinner at the restaurant is good to be booked in advance, but they also may have a table available on the spot. The food was good , I really enjoyed crispy fried waitbait. It was delicious.
Tips:Good train connection to London, also bus connections to other nearby towns ( Lymington, Lyndhurst, Beaulieu, Hythe...) Walks are well signed and organized. The signal in the forest is off, which is great, just have a map ready. There are plenty of activities...Archery, Cayaking... There's a spa centre 10 min away, for relaxing moments. The food was good.

Brockenhurst has lots of local eateries, easy access to the New Forest and walks therein, train facilities and a lovely village to boot and doesn’t have the crowds. Perfect.

Absolutely wonderful! Very friendly staff who gave us a warm welcome with tea and cake and useful advice about the local area. They had even put up a lovely “Happy Birthday” banner in our room as it was my partner’s birthday. Such a thoughtful touch! The hotel was very clean, and very quirky with interesting nooks and crannies. It is central to Brockenhurst (we took the train-10 minutes stroll to the station- but there was also a dedicated parking place for us). Breakfast was AMAZING! Fantastic choice, served beautifully and we even had Buck’s Fizz! Cannot recommend highly enough if you are staying in the New Forest. Thank you!
Tips:We ate dinner in White Tails restaurant- attached to the hotel. It was fabulous and so convenient. Wonderful walks on the doorstep including a “Treasure Hunt” around Brockenhurst. A brilliant 1-1.25 hours / 2 mile treasure hunt walk around the village. It was a really lovely and very interesting circular stroll. Well worth doing. As the hotel is 10 minutes walk from the railway station it is easy to explore the wider area by train, enabling you to take advantage of the pubs (and Gin bar @ the Thatch) in the village. We spent a lovey 36 hours here.

Very friendly and helpful staff, who made us very welcome. Lovely breakfasts, with a wide choice available. We each bought a pot of jam and a packet of shortbread from the snug to take home. That was a lovely idea to have those.
Tips:We would recommend the Snakecatcher and the Waterloo Arms in Lyndhurst for evening meals, especially as they are both open on evenings when the hotel restaurant was closed. We would also recommend the New Forest Wildlife Centre, Mudeford Quay, Highcliffe Castle and Bucklers Hard, where you can take a boat trip. All in good distances from Brockenhurst.

Really lovely accommodation which you feel relaxed in. Every member of staff really friendly & helpful. Nice idea to have cake & tea on arrival. White Tails food was really nice. The idea of having your own parking space allocated to you on arrival is what makes me want to stay at your hotel too. No worries about staying out later in evening because you know you can park upon your return. I’ve stayed 3 times at hotel & will continue to do so.

We loved our weekend stay at the Cottage Lodge. The Rheinfield room was bright and comfortable, and we really appreciated little touches like the tea and cake on arrival. The breakfasts were first class, as was the evening meal we had at the White Tails. Only small niggle was the water pressure in our room, which would randomly reduce to a trickle or completely stop. Wasn't a big deal though. Thanks for making us feel so welcome!

We left some items of clothing by mistake and were quickly contacted and asked if we wanted them posted. We collected them the following day.
Tips:The original part of the hotel is very old and quirky. Due to limited space there's no reception desk so you ring a bell on arrival. There's no bar so drinks are brought to the snug. Staff all lovely, helpful & very welcoming & breakfasts are amazing. Love the ethical & eco friendly way the hotel is run, not easy as we all know from how hard it is to be plastic free in our daily lives so a massive well done. radiator in Verderers room was never very warm, but fortunately there is an electric heater available to top up heat if you feel chilly. Also not easy to fill kettle from basin taps, but staff happily filled it from kitchen. We stayed for 2 nights & were comfortable in what is quite a snug room.
Tips:We enjoyed excellent meals from both Brittania Thai & Alberro Italian restaurants in easy walking distance from cottage lodge hotel. Also fabulous circular walk into New Forest, over ford & with many ponies & donkeys on the commons. Perfect location for day trips to Beaulieu Motor Museum & Bucklers Hard.

A really excellent experience throughout on our first visit to the Cottage Lodge. This ran right from booking our stay, through the warm welcome (including the lovely touch of a 'welcome' message on our personalised parking slot!), the spacious, well-equipped and comfortable room, and the delicious breakfasts. The location in the heart of the village was ideal, too. We were also extremely impressed by the first-class evening meal served at the on-site White Tails restaurant. In summary, based on our experience, the Cottage Lodge Hotel is a perfect place for a New Forest break.

We booked four rooms for a celebration break with family to celebrate a 70th birthday. Maurizio was extremely helpful during the booking process and we were delighted with the personal touches and attention to detail throughout our stay from the dedicated parking space to the tea/coffee and cake on arrival. All the staff that we meet were professional, cheerful and obviously enjoyed working there. Jackie was particularly a little ray of sunshine! The breakfasts were delicious and we ate in the White Tails restaurant on the Tuesday and Ramsey and his chef produced some delightful food and it made my husband's birthday really special. This is a lovely little hotel in a good central location and we we definitely made the right choice when booking this short break. It is obviously still going through a partial refurbishment and as Maurizio said they are still working on the bathrooms. Our bathroom was perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean but improvements to the shower would be be useful as the water pressure was fairly inconsistent, either too hot, too cold or very little pressure. This is the only small niggle though.
Tips:If you have mobility issues the stairs can be difficult to some of the rooms on the front (we stayed in the Exbury room which was lovely with it's own little balcony). The hotel restaurant is small but the food was delicious and the personal service from the owner was lovely. We ate in the Foresters pub, a 5 minute walk from the hotel, on the Monday night. Very good basic pub food and they were happy to accommodate 9 of us (from 7 months to 70!)even though we didn't book until the afternoon. There is a small Cafe called the Terrace on the high street and we had some delicious coffee and cake there. There are plenty of walks into the forest from the hotel so you can just leave your car and get away from everything.

We very much enjoyed our stay and plan to return and recommend the hotel to family and friends. The hotel being so dog friendly was fantastic and we also loved how friendly everyone was, the drinks & cake on arrival, the allocated parking spot and the standard of breakfast. Minor points which if addressed would make the hotel even better: - we found the restaurant and the snug a little cold (although we appreciate the hotel had just reopened after the Christmas break) - the bathroom blind (mouldy), tv (old, slow) and mattress (thin) in Standing Hat could do with being replaced - there was some road noise even during the night. Obviously, other than offering rooms to the rear of the property or upgrading the windows it's difficult to do anything about it but it maybe worth advising guests in advance.
Tips:White Tails Restaurant - excellent Foresters Arms - very good quality, home-made pub food Tall Trees Walk - fantastic for dogs in the Forest Highcliffe - great walk along the coast

Our 3rd time staying here and we love it. The rooms are lovey, modern and incredibly clean. The cooked to order breakfast and options available are very premium and the people are ever so friendly and welcoming. We’ll be back next year.

We felt very welcome from our arrival to leaving after breakfast. Could not fault the staff, owner or service and in fact they are what made our stay a cut above many places we stayed. Looking forward to returning soon.
Tips:Close proximity to everything you need as Brockenhurst is a compact but well stocked village. Great location for exploring the New Forest with lovely walks right on the doorstep and the many sights only minutes drive

Really enjoyed our stay at Cottage Lodge. The hotel is just lovely, full of character and a real home from home. The staff are equally as fantastic, so friendly and welcoming. I would recommend Cottage Lodge to anyone looking for some relaxing time away from home.
Tips:Location is great; the other villages and towns are within an easy scenic drive. Plenty of places to eat nearby and a couple of convenience shops as well as a garage. We visited Lymington and Burley. Majority of places are very dog friendly and everyone is just charming!

Amazing couple of days stay, so welcoming on arrival and the breakfast each morning was fantastic.
Tips:A great selection of restaurant and pubs nearby (Snakecatcher and Huntsman were very good) and some lovely shops in the village and more in Lyndhurst.

The stay here was great from the moment of arrival to a named off road parking space, to when we left and were shown the wonderful range of wood in other rooms. The breakfasts were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We loved the decor and range of natural wood, locally made furniture. The mini bar (with honesty box) in an open area was handy. The owners and staff were all lovely and very helpful.
Tips:There are several pubs serving good food, particularly The Huntsman and Snake Catcher as well as Albero, an Italian restaurant. The Pig although close is safer to visit by car because of the narrow, winding lanes. The station is an easy walk from the hotel. Bucklers Hard with a walk along the river to Beaulieu is a good day out and not far as is Lymington.

We had a pleasant couple of nights stay at the Cottage Lodge with our dog. Nice welcome with coffee and cake. Breakfast was very nice. Continental choice and hot breakfast to follow and Bucks Fizz too if you wanted it! The only criticism was the toilet in our bathroom did not fill up properly so my husband had to sort it out a few times and maybe ditch the lino flooring!
Tips:Hotel was in a good location. A few minutes walk to pubs/restaurants and a few minutes walk to the forest! The Albero offers good Italian food.

Struggling with the honesty of a 5 star rating in case it means we can't get in next time we need to stay. Every aspect of this homely hotel has been carefully thought out and the breakfasts are locally sourced, delicious, hot and served promptly with smiles.
Tips:It's the New Forest. Look it up! So much to enjoy. Also the 'in-house' restaurant 'Whitetails' is excellent

Maurizio and his staff are very friendly and do everything they can to make sure you enjoy your stay. Tea/Coffee with cake was a lovely touch.
Tips:The White Tails restaurant within Cottage Lodge is an excellent place to eat, you need to book a slot. The Buttery in the main village is a lovely café. Walks in the Forest are delightful.
