First class, friendly accommodation. Spotlessly clean with every requirement catered for, even a small fridge on the landing with fresh milk for tea and coffe in your room. Idyllic surroundings in a small hamlet with a pub next door and a beautiful church makes you feel removed from the hustle and bustle and yet a short walk takes you over a quaint toll bridge to Totton with a good selection of shops, supermarket, pubs and cafes. Highly recommend for a relaxing break with lots of places to visit close by. Oops nearly forgot the breakfast - yummy, yummy!

An ideal spot to visit Southampton, Salisbury, Winchester and the New Forest. You can even leave your car, stroll down to Totton and catch a bus to any of the above - relax and enjoy.

Tips:

We did not have a car, so we took an easy walk into Eling center, passing St Mary's church and cemetery, both very interesting. There is a hand-forged gate that is remarkable at the entrance to the walk along the church and cemetery. We only stayed overnight on our way to Southampton and a crossing on Queen Mary2. Our room was bright and very clean. Our windows overlooked the duck pen and meadow. On arrival, it was easy for us to take a cab from Southampton's National Express Coach station (from Heathrow) to Ivy's and return to embarkation on QM2 the next day.

One of the best B&B's that we have ever stayed in "at home or abroad", it really is a 5 Star experience staying at Ivy's, but that's topped up by the welcome you get from Riley the resident pooch :-) Over the years we have stayed at near all the Hotels in Southampton overnighting before going for a cruise. The Hotels used to be decent, now they are looking tired and their rates have gone up quite a bit, add to that they can be noisy. We would highly recommend Ivy's for a pre cruise stay, or just a quiet week end, nice pub next door, or a 10 minute walk down a country lane to "The Village Bells" where they put on some pretty decent food and a great pint at very reasonable prices.

Tips:

If you get a taxi from Southampton make sure the meter is running, we were charged £30 by one of the taxi's on the rank at Southampton Central railway station. The next day Hanna @ Ivy's called a local taxi for us, they took us further {to the Cunard Dock} and only charged us £18 !!!

Ivy's is a great place to stay, made so by Hannah and Steve's friendly yet unobtrusive style. Our room, number 2, was a decent size, attractively furnished and showed attention to detail - biscuits with the drinks facilities, fresh milk, tissues, cotton buds, water and wine glasses, good quality towels. Breakfast featured good quality produce and their own duck eggs. WE really enjoyed our stay - thanks!

Tips:

The King Rufus pub next door is welcoming, doesn't seem to advertise food other than pizza on Friday's but Philippa will put something together for you. Gypsy swing jazz on the Saturday night we visited that saw Roy the landlord appear from the toilets with his double bass to join in.

A warm welcome and a lovely stay in a beautiful room with a fantastic breakfast. Will definitely return.

Tips:

Take care when finding the property it can be tricky particularly in the dark because the lane is split by a main road. Make sure you enter Eling into the Sat Nav and if you get lost head for the King Rufus pub which is a couple of doors away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Room 1. Hannah was a very kind and gracious host. Breakfast was cooked beautifully. We would highly recommend this charming and comfortable B&B to others.

Tips:

We followed directions from Google Maps to Ivy's B&B without a problem. A short drive to Southampton will present you with multiple options for dining, shopping and entertainment.

Hannah and Steve are great hosts and serve a very well cooked and generous breakfast with eggs from their own ducks and chickens. Our room was large and airy, very clean and had a wonderful large roll top bath with plenty of piping hot water. We will certainly book with them again when next we are in the area.

Tips:

There are lots of lovely places to visit along the coast and in the New Forest. We went for the Southampton Boat Show for which Ivy's was only 10 minutes drive away. It was lovely to get back to the peace and tranquility after a busy day at the Show.

Hannah and Steve are the perfect hosts. They are a very fun loving couple with a chilled outlook on life. We stayed in room 1 which is a large airy room with a gorgeous large attached bathroom with a fantastic rolled top bath. Hannah's breakfast is to die for. It's large and very tasty consisting of local sausages and fresh eggs from their own chickens. It really sets you up nicely for the day. I can't praise Ivy's B & B enough and we will definitely be returning for another stay. Thanks Hannah and Steve

Ivy's is a really gorgeous little place. Hannah made me feel totally welcome and at ease, without being intrusive. My room ('cosy double') was a good size with a small but perfectly designed en suite, and all the extras you need (TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee, toiletries) plus a lovely view over the beautiful garden and the chickens/ducks! It also has the most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on! The breakfast room is spacious and the food is absolutely delicious, the variety on offer is brilliant for such a small place. I can't wait to go again!

A warm welcome in a relaxed atmosphere, made to feel at home. A very nice house with lovely bedrooms. Very clean and tidy. Fresh milk available for in-room tea/coffee was very nice. I should have re-iterated the need for a gluten free diet prior to arrival. Breakfast was very good but perhaps the tea could be served in a teapot rather than a cup with teabag?! A very pleasant and comfortable one-night stay, thank you.

Tips:

Great location, quiet and rural. Close to the New Forest but this was not my reason for staying. Two local pubs, one right next door the other within walking distance. The 'local' does have limited opening times. Eling Tide Mill will be a great local attraction when renovated.

Absolutely ideal location whether you're intention is to spend time in Southampton or see the New Forest (which we haven't yet). Our room was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated in natural calming tones, which after a long drive was very welcome as all we wanted to do was relax. The ensuite was also immaculately clean, tastefully decorated and spacious. The owners were very accommodating and helpful. They had thought of everything to make our stay as relaxing and enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a cooked breakfast which was probably the best we've ever had when staying away from home.

Tips:

Perfect for New Forest, Southampton theatres, pre & post cruise stays, or like us visiting our daughter who is just finishing her studies in Southampton. We'll definitely come back and stay for a few days, so we can explore this beautiful part of Hampshire more fully.

My husband, two children and myself stayed here the weekend. I cannot speak highly enough about the owners, they were so friendly and would put themselves out everyday to make your stay special. While my husband and I would eat breakfast they would take the kids and feed the chickens with them, my kids felt comfortable with them and their beautiful dog 'Riley'. The house itself is beautiful, clean and well kept. The garden is simply gorgeous!! Defo be back to this gem.

Tips:

The b&b have a pub next door which is ideal for a cheeky drink. For food we went into a little town called lynhurst which was 10 minutes drive. Lots of places to choose from. The b&b is very close to a lovely farm that the kids loved, poultons park and a zoo. It's a great spot.

A beautifully maintained B&B in a quaint setting, only minutes away from the centre of Southampton. Hannah and Steve, the hosts, were welcoming, helpful and friendly. They took care of all our needs and made us feel right at home. The full English breakfast was delicious and served in a comfortable setting. The room was delightful, with lovely en suite facilities and ample furniture. Definitely a place we will return to if we head back that way and will recommend to anyone else going there too! Thank you both.

Tips:

Great location for visiting Newforest or Southampton. Local village is beautiful. Anchors Arms is only a few minutes' drive away and served delicious food at very good prices. Southampton offers many delights, including amazing touring shows at The Mayflower Theatre.

Fantastic from start to finish. A lovely couple, their dog was a real cutie and the house and gardens were gorgeous. Breakfast was amazing every day and cooked upon request, exactly how we wanted it. Our room was awesome - the biggest in the three available and had a roll top bath and rain shower too overlooking the garden and chickens. If we are ever in the area again we'll definitely bear them in mind.

Tips:

The pub next door was not serving food when we stayed but possibly due to change owners. Check out the list of restaurants the B+B give you. We tried a local pub and a Thai place - both lovely.

We were pleased to stay 2 nights at this B&B. This is a really high quality B&B finished to a very high specification and yet it was homely and comfortable. We received a very warm welcome. Parking was off road. This is a delightful B&B. Our room was huge and spotless and there was lots of space to put our travelling stuff. The bed was also huge with lots of pillows. There was a large window which looked out the front of the property and it was quiet at night. The decor was lovely with natural colours. It also had an enormous bathroom with a powerful shower, and a roll top bath in the centre looking out to the back garden and apple trees,. A proper english garden. The bath was lovely and so were the luxurious high quality towels (a rare find I find in B&B’s nowadays). My only niggle was the bathroom floor was tiled and I was worried about slipping or dropping something on it, that said anti slip mats were provided and it wouldn’t put me off staying there again. There was a lovely selection of teas and coffee in our room with lovely big mugs and a large TV. Breakfasts were delicious with local produce and eggs from the garden. We would not hesitate to stay here again, it is much better than a hotel, in fact we could quite easily move in!
